Opening with several boring establishing shots, under the same soundtrack they seem to wheel out for every chick flick, followed by a pointless narration, I couldn't say While You Were Sleeping gives out the best impression.
Sandra Bullock plays the same role she has played in every film, the frumpy lonely loser, and she's as likeable or as annoying as you find her. Here she is in love with a man she has never spoken to, and saves his life when he falls on the railway tracks. He's in a coma and due to some 'hilarious' circumstances, his family become convinced she is his fiancée. What's never addressed is the seriousness of a man being in a coma, instead it is played for laughs, much the same as the rather creepy premise of a complete stranger insinuating her way into a family (from a different perspective, this could have been a horror film).
It's funny and extremely soppy, and it has no depth. The moral is being alone is bad, which is actually a bit depressing. Peter Gallagher and Bill Pullman are both very funny as the comatose man and his brother. I laughed when it was funny, but I nearly gagged on the amount of syrup drizzled all over it, and the ending is too quick and forced, spoiling the simmering romance central to the plot.
A lonely fare collector Lucy Elenore Moderatz (Sandra Bullock) on the Chicago elevated railway is selling a token to a handsome commuter, Peter Callaghan (Peter Gallagher). Lucy spends a delayed Christmas with the Callaghan family to get to know each other to meet Peter's younger brother Jack (Bill Pullman) has taken over his father's business is always working. Jack realizes he has feelings for Lucy & Lucy has fallen in love with Jack wanted to be with her whole life. Jack visits Lucy to give her a perfect present: Florence, Italy snowglobe is a place always want to go on the vacation. Jack proposes to Lucy are happily newlywed in wedding attire is Just Married. Jack will take Lucy to their honeymoon to Florence, Italy.
Silly notion that all 15 year old have about love.. Crushes etc.. you get the picture. I liked this movie for the little 15yr old within!
this is a great movie it reminds me of what could happen in real life! it is one of the perfect love story and most people might not like it but i do!
Really nice and entertaining..! Great love story! I just love Sandra Bullock! She's beautiful and great in this film.
One of Sandra Bullock's best roles..
Heartwarming, funny and one of the few romantic comedies that actually manages to not be cliched !
This was such a great romance! Sandra Bullock is just a fantastic actress, she and Bill Pullman really did a good job for this movie.
Lucy and Jack are perfect for each other but she doesn't know it cuz she's totally in love with his brother Peter (who is in a coma). She figures it out eventually, and falls in love with his funny, quirkey family, too. Funny and heartwarming!
"I could never make a good pot roast."
- "You need good beef. Argentina has great beef: beef, and Nazis."
My favorite part is this scene with a little boy delivering papers, then slipping on the ice, and totally crashing his bike! It has absolutely nothing to do with the movie, but it is hilarious just the same!
The movie really shows what one lie can lead to another and that it can make a huge mess!
But the movie is really funny!
The chick flick to end all chick flicks! The chemistry between the two stars (Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman), an excellent musical score and a top-of-the-line supporting cast put this film way above the others.
Lonely Chicago "L" ticket seller Lucy has fallen in love with a commuter who passes her by every day. On Christmas day, the handsome commuter named Peter falls onto the rails and is saved from certain death by Lucy. Peter's family is mistaken into thinking Lucy is Peter's fiancie. Peter's brother, Jack, is skeptical, but very much attacted to Lucy. What will happen when Peter wakes up?
The only movie I can actually stand Sandra Bullock in. It's so cute and so adorable that I just can't help but adore it, though!
This is one of the few girlie movies that I like. I can't help but laugh everytime I see this movie. Sandra Bullock saves a guy that she don't know, but has been madly in love with just to be thought of by the family as his fiance. Then she happens to fall in love with the guy that has "amnesia" brother. This movie is funny...funny...funny.
it might be a little gay but this is a fun movie thats funny and heart warming. i could watch it over and over.
Its a cute little movie where Sandra Bullock pretends her way into a relationship with her fake fiancee's brother. It sounds stupid and OK it kind of is but it also works, at least for me.
Bill Pullman couldn't be cuter. Sandra is great as always. Nice romantic comedy that I think even some of the guys might find entertaining.
With this flim I really liked this story, and Sandra Bullock is the best!!! Bill Pulman was a good leading man, there was enough comedy to make it enjoyable, and enough romance to make it good.
i really liked this story, and sandra bullock is the best!!! bill pulman was a good leading man, there was enough comedy to make it enjoyable, and enough romance to make it good, but not gross!!1
