Great story. V, the man who makes a difference in to the world. This movie makes you think about the world around you, about freedom and our rights. V is the man who stood up for those things and showed that the people have the power and not the government. Great movie, highly recommended

Hugo Weaving puts on the Guy Fawkes mask and shines as V, the shadowy gentleman who fights for a good country. Natalie Portman shines as she turns from Naive waif to skinhead anarchist and joins forces with V's plan, which, of course you will have to watch the film to find out. When I sat down to watch this film I was expecting a fairly good film, but the end result was a spectacular romp which kept me on the edge of my seat all the way throughout the movie which was 1 hour and 59 minutes long. Good special effects, top form acting and above all a plot well suited to the today world V for vendetta is simply an unmissable movie. 5/5

In the not too distant future, Britain is filled with torture cells, unfair punishments, prejudice against minorities. However in the mist of all this chaos, one man known only by the name V dares to stand up to the government and is labeled as a terrorist. One night V rescues a mild young woman called Evey Hammond and an unlikely bond between the two emerges which results with Evey becoming Vs ally. But though V may be charismatic and have a passion for justice he also is bitter and has his own personal hatred of the government for something they did to him long ago. As November the 5th, the day V says he and those who will follow him will stand up to the government once and for all approaches, Detective Finch becomes more and more determined to uncover the truth about V, however his search leads him to ask to question whether or not he is on the right side.

Throw yourself these questions: What kind of world are you living in now?Look at your government. Are they really giving you total freedom like they say?Are you truly living in a free democratic country?Chances are:NO.Truly a very provocative story that defines the power of the people versus the power of a government.Who should be afraid of who?Do we really have to be afraid of the government and let them take control of our lives?Who should be in control when chaos strikes?

Here's a brief info about this movie. The story embarks on a masked vigilante (Vendetta) trying to uncover the ugliness of his country and unmasking the people behind the state of the chaotic and horrifying events that happened few years back. This happens to be the Cabinets and High Chansellor (Similar to President of the US).

This movie is a sattire about the reality of politics and what its psychological effects and damage can do to the human beings a.k.a the people. If you relate it to the real world, the wars we are facing today is actually a mental war. What if everything you read in the news about your enemy is purely made up by the government for a certain propaganda they need to meet? This is a big question of WHAT IF.You will understand that the theme for this movie is not purely fictional. It is what it is in the real life and definitely what is really happening today. We are scared with our government and we are letting them take control of the war and peace of todays society. That is the biggest reason why the world is really in a bad condition.

    Very thought provoking.Very inspiring.

Visually stunning and thought-provoking, V For Vendetta's political pronouncements may rile some, but its story and impressive set pieces will nevertheless entertain.

Even just at face value, this movie is exciting and fun. It's a good story, shot and acted well. Throw in the sociological/psychological/general political aspect to it; and it makes it a great movie. When you add how great this movie described the political situation in the US at the time, and it makes it brilliant.

A good film, however I'm probably agreeing with many on this in saying that it's a bit overrated if anything. It's well done, and Natalie Portman is superb, but the film feels a little too preachy, or perhaps contrived; it's hard to pick the right words for a description. I think the real problem here is that it's done by the Wachowskis. Had this film been tackled by Chris Cunningham, or Alfonso Cuaron, I think it really could have been something special. It's still good, just not great.

After a disappointing attempt in making The Matrix into a totally forgettable trilogy, the Wachowski brothers write a new film tackling the issues of terrorism and corruption between the bureaucratic governments in this futuristic look of Britain. Now this film is based on a graphic novel which I love and changes were made as with most books adapted to the big screen but with everyone involved in this movie it goes without saying I would have only high expectations for this film. The directorJames McTeigue, who served as an assistant director on the Matrix series, really impressed me with the outcome of this film.

In a state of government that is controlled by a tyrant and is in a state of civil war, there's nowhere safe for anyone that is a possible suspect of terrorism. With corrupt leaders and crooked officers, there is only one thing that is suspected of this and that is the right to rebel against the government. Evey Hammond (Natalie Portman) becomes cornered in a dark alley by several government officers who have only one thing on their mind. Luckily she is saved from the power hungry officers by a man in black that wears the a Guy-Fawkes mask and whose weapon of choice is the dozen of daggers that he carries around. She's intrigued by the man in black, who has no second thought of using violence as a mean of expression for his rebellious ideas, who latter has been labeled as the terrorist of the new generation and given the name "V". With her curiosity, Evey is kidnapped by V and learns of his lifestyles that he carries on. Meanwhile, Inspector Eric Finch, (Stephen Rea) is questioning the authority of the nations dictator Creedy, whose face is blown up on a large movie screen as he dictates his committee, displaying his ego and attempt to be intimidating to his council. All I can picture is that this guy is probably 5'1'', drives cars that are large and fast, and makes sure to be yelling and/or frowning at the same time. As the film continues, you begin to learn the reasoning for V's acts of terrorism involving explosions of national monuments and the mentality that violence is the only way to rebel.

The pace of the film isn't what you would expect from the trailer that you can see online but that doesn't change anything, the film shows the stylistic traits of the graphic novel that seems to be the new wave of interpretation as seen through most recent films such as The History of Violence and Sin City. There are several high class references in V's humble layer, underneath the rocky ledge near the coast of some river, being that there are rare paintings on the wall, operatic music playing in the background and other nick-nacks that show the intellect that V truly is, giving him the approval rating for his actions. Even though he seemed to be justifying the rights of all mankind in this totalitarian government, it seems like I've heard or seen this story before at least a half a dozen times, I don't seem to mind. The ending is what ties everyone together and the effect that V had on society is what is special about the film and shows the overpowering force of the people against a tyrant. To sum it up John Locke would approve with the idea, disapprove of the actions, while Machiavelli would be frustrated beyond belief. A great look at the rise and fall of power in a time were the nation is trying to understand how there future might evolve. Check this one out

so i watched it again and still stand by what i said. One of the best films I've seen so far.

Hugo weaving presentation of Vendetta's character was masterful and charming through his vocal performance and body language. The supporting cast is very powerful, adding to the quality of the film.

The script was brilliant and articulate, a great part of it explored the character, the rest expressed ideas and asked question, very rare thing in films nowadays .

cinematography by Adrian Biddle provided a beautiful mystical air to the story.

The reason anyone wouldn't like this films might be the lengthy conversations and lack of big-boom explosions ...well....we have an abundance of that elsewhere.

As for the rest they simply stereotype it as "Liberal" and refuse to keep an open mind to profound ideas.

Orwell's "1984" with wide LCD's that presents its viewers with an anti-climactic finale at the beginning and then bores us to literal death with flashbacks from different points of view. Maybe I was trying too hard to figure out who was behind the mask instead of buying into all the mostly useless sub-plots that tried to give justification to what V was trying to do as well as V's continual babbling about everything and nothing under the sun! This was a real snoozer after the first hour and it only gets 2 stars due to a 2 star attempt at special effects. Is blood really that bright of red? I guess that is suppose to be a "cartoon" effect but I found it also to be distracting. Skip this.

After my second screening of this movie I realized that Rupert Graves was staring me right in the face! I was completely thrown, but happily, because he was wonderful in Death at a Funeral and I definitely took notice of him then so I'm glad I figured that out now. I suppose the last half I was reasonably happy with Natalie Portman, and I'm usually less than a fan of hers but she did well. I just adore the philosophical aspect of this and the vengance. It is truely quite remarkable in the visual and spoken effects on your subconcious.

I was totally surprised! I thought it was going to be like Batman. It was very serious, and I thought it was great. I need to see it more continously because I got distracted a few times, and I now have questions. From what I saw, it ought to be made mandatory for every American to see, because we're headed right down that road.

Good movie. It spreads a message many people will probably not understand or try to understand because of their own reasons. But the message is clear and we should all know what it is.

This movie reeks of rotten liberal bias! This whole movie is about how "evil conservatives" take over and start killing everybody. And how one "oh-so-noble hero" takes them down.

At first I didn't get that. I was a bit younger when I watched it, and just thought the action scenes were cool. Looking back- this movie is terrible.
