Bringing the Iliad on the screen is already heaven to me. It lacks the violence in words and acts as depicted by Homer - but it's still a solid modern-day peplum.

Good action and the fighting scenes are awesome. I am not a Brad Pitt fan usually, but now I think I am! In this movie, he is really good not to mention sexy. I believe the story was very well presented although a little astray from the book (Iliad) ... don't forget this is not history but a STORY from an ancient book.

I also enjoy seeing 2 of my favorite characters from Lord of the rings, Orlando Bloom and Sean Bean, although it was a bit hard for me to see them out of their LOTR characters.

Overall , a good movie I enjoyed very much and I would enjoy seeing again.

Està ben feta però és un fracàs mitològic en tota regla. Hi ha qui només comenta les grans pel·lícules, espero q aquesta no estigui entre elles.

Troy" is the story of the Greeks' bloody attack on the city of which the movie is named after lead by "Achilles" (Brad Pitt) to bring back "Helen of Troy" (Diane Kruger) to her homeland of Sparta.

Reparto d lujo, aunq la historia d la Iliada y l Caballo d Troya stan un poco cambiada no? pero las interpretaciones son d escandalo... Hector y Aquiles

Greek King Agamemnon has forcefully united the tribes of Greece. His brother Menelaus has negotiated an uneasy peace with Troy. But when Spartan Princess Helen cuckolds Menelaus with Trojan Prince Paris, warmongering Agamemnon uses it as an excuse for launching an all out war on Troy.

The casting is excellent. All of the actors are the sort capable of brilliance, especially those in the minor roles, such as Peter O'Toole, Brian Cox and Brendan Glesson. Yet, in the major roles too, Brad Pitt and Eric Bana turn in outstanding performances.

I've always enjoyed watching Pitt, he's unpretentious and his style is diverse. As fearsome warrior Achilles, he's more menacing than ever. And his portrayal of a man with few loyalties and conflicting values is convincing.

Bana also impresses greatly, quashing any lingering doubts over his abilities as an actor that a mediocre star turn in Hulk might have suggested, with a powerhouse performance as Hector. It's a welcome return to the gritty form that characterised his performance in Chopper.

Orlando Bloom, as Paris, is also notable. His performance is full of vulnerability and he's the perfect foil for Bana's protective older brother.

Although Troy has been criticised, I find it difficult to see what all the fuss is about, as I thought it a terrific cinematic experience.

The finely choreographed fight between Achilles and Hector is the showpiece of the film. It lasts for several minutes and every sword strike and shield parry can be seen and heard with exceptional clarity. It's also good to see real actors fighting it out.

Wolfgang Petersen's direction is crisp, the action believable and for its 163 minutes Troy entertains and thrills.

This movie is a retelling of the Trojan War as told in The Iliad and The Aeneid. For some reason the movie was given an R rating. I don?t know why, the only nudity is a few shots of a woman?s backside early in the movie. The violence isn?t that graphic and is in fact sort of bloodless. In the fight scenes and battle sequences there is a lot of slashing and stabbing with swords and spears but no one seems to bleed that much, even when they get killed. In the Iliad the battles were described as men in chariots riding around throwing spears at each other. The Trojan War in the Iliad was a ten-year war and the Iliad only tells a small part of it. In this movie the War seems only last a short time. The fight scenes and Battle scenes are actually well done. We don?t know how the ancient Greeks fought wars during the Bronze Age but we do know how they fought during the Iron Age. The movie chooses this type of combat and did a good job of making it look like it might have actually looked. Of course the real reason for this movie is to give Brad Pitt a reason to strut around in skimpy Greek tunics and occasionally shirtless. The girls should enjoy this part of the movie.

At two and a half hours it's a pretty long film. The fight scenes were really good. But the rest of the film was boring and I kept getting distracted as it was just talk about Greek stuff.

I'll give the film a 3/10 but with the battle scenes I'll put it up to a 5/10.

It may sound cliche but yes,I did expect the precise adaptation of Iliad on the big screen.Dissapointing,Bana as Hector culdn't save the day nor the pompous costumes and tragic sequences.

I watched most of this "film" last night on cable. It was pretty stupid all the way through. I'm not sure who you're supposed to "root" for in this film as both sides are crappy. Brad Pitt's character is so lame that you just wish he'd die. He's like an Alpha Male from Hell, who picks on the other weaker Alpha Males in the film. The fight scenes are atrocious AND ludacris. Sure, some of the characters look cool, but are they acting cool. Hell no!

A feast on Brad Pitt's body :p With a touch of Orlando Bloom. WHat else do you want? Still, I think I was waiting for something more, I'm picky, I'm not denying it.

Ridiculous. But... Angelina is in it. I am also very unhappy that they closed down the beach in Cabo when I was there for the filming of this movie. Lame.

It was a good movie and was full of action and very iteresting scenes.
But it was not as good as " The LORD Of The RINGS " or " TITAIC " but it was still up there.
its characters was very good, specially Brad Pitt and Eric Bana, Orlando Was A stupid in this movie , but he's a good actor specially in (LOTR).
And really I was confused w/ whome should I be ( Achelis or Paris and Hector )
The wars scenes was perfect and well done also Wolfgang Petesen was skilled and Great.

I Loved this movie! Despite what those dimwits said about Paris (Orlanda Bloom) being the cause of the war...Paris and Helen should have been allowed to be with whom they wanted!

This is a movie not the entire mythology so that means that some things have to happen that aren't actually true, besides how the hell were they going to show how Menalous was stranded when the movie ends just after Troy is destroyed?
and it was about Troy, not the character's personal journies.

Though I do agree that this wasn't Brad Pitts best performance.
