Well, yes, the book was in my life first.

Notwithstanding that, this is just one of those perfectly balanced movies, based on a novel.

Yes, sometimes, the two can interchange.

And by the way: a bowler hat will never look the same to me.

    Not a favorite?
    No.
In this movie, I had two problems: Juliet and Daniel.
These two really didn't like each other...
    Such tense interaction.

    Luckily, there was Lena Olin.
And Kundera's story, which she at least must have read, before reading the script.

Damn. An obviously epic film. You become more and more aware of this as the movie progresses, and then it's like.. Damn, put in disc 2? I did have the whole night to do little else, but I was hoping that it would never end honestly. And didn't factor the time in once.

I could go in to detail and describe about what I learned in the "making of" documentary on the special features, or describe what countless critics have tried to do in the past. I will just say that I was blown away by this film. The passion, the history behind the story, the authenticity of replicating the times.. Just wow, one of the best films I have ever seen, and one of the best films out there, period.

Juliet Binoche is amazing in this historical drama. Look for her other films and make it a dual movie nite :-)
