But he can't accomplish this task alone. A Fellowship bands together to lend Frodo all that he needs to carry out his mission: the wisdom of Gandalf; the loyalty of his friends Sam, Merry, and Pippin; the courage of Aragorn and Boromir; the precision of Legolas; and the strength of Gimli. LOTR goes beyond an even large budget to show us the massive war side of things, and it pays off big time. Great character development.

The other 2 were better. I was very disappointed with the deviating from the book, but after listening to the director's comments, I understand.

On of the best movies of this Century. I think if you fell in love with the books then you had to love the movies.

I have always felt that the battle of Helms Deep is one of the best parts of this amazing troiology, and rewatching this film I remeber why. I am, just like most people a sucker for the "victory for the underdog-thing" but this whole battle is just mindblowing. It really is. Add the smart storytelling, cutting between our heroes on their different paths, the return of Gandalf and the intruduction of another of my favourites of the inhabitas of Middle earth, the ents, and you have a very strong movie. I am also very happy to notice that the character of Arwen is coming together for me, and I'm beginning to suspect the problem I had with her before was mainly with costume. Also Eowin and Faramir are both nice additions to an already splendid cast. I continue to be impressed.

I love this movie!! It is not my favorite LOTR movie, but it is still really good!! Of course, if it's the extended version, then it is my favorite, because Merry and Pippin are in it most!

The second instalment of the trilogy. If you've seen the first film, and you liked it, you will definitely want to see this one and the third one.

Not being a fan of the series, I have to respect the production value of these movies. The effects are fantastic and the portrayal of Gollum is fantastic. However, I get bothered by the overlength and the ridiculously sparkly eyes of all of the characters. I feel stupid using these reasons to dislike a movie, but overall I just have no interest.

This is my favourite if the first one isn't. Viggo Mortensen is particularly brilliant in this one - he should have won an oscar! Andy Serkis should have won something as well - it's so unfair that he couldn't be nominated because it was a CG character, it's one of the most amazing performances in the trilogy! Staying on the topic of Gollum, the CG is incredible - he actually looks like Andy Serkis! It's so clever the way they did the schizophrenia - the bit where he's talking to himself and it's like he's actually two different people. He's one of my favourite characters, as he's so complex and you can't help feeling sorry for him.

You should watch this immediately after watching The Fellowship. If you do this I recommend watching these on a Saturday or Sunday. It's worth it.

This film is just as great as the first. With jaw dropping scenes and the battle for Helm's Deep really is the highlight of the film. A good balance of the storylines aswell which means that u don't see 2 much of 1 character. When u have watched it u just have 2 watch the next 1

JRR Tolkien knew how to write a story. At least they did try to stay true to the original book, but the book is definitely better.

I don't consider this as one but I consider the "trilogy" to be the greatest single film ever made. The Battle of Helm's Deep: the greatest battle ever!

The second movie in The Lord of the Rings trilogy is awesome. It continues to show Peter Jacksons exceptional ability to bring Tolkiens Middle Earth to the big screen. This movie is second only to The Fellowship of the Ring and The Return of the King

I think the Two Towers stayed true to the book as well as it could without having it be too long. They made the movie enjoyable for people who have and haven't read the books.
