A sad movie written by Stephen King with great story lines and a fantastic score to the scenes even more depressing and effective. All the cast do great jobs even Doug Hutchison playing Percy Wetmore a character that got nastier throughout the film i hated as the film went on.
Tom Hanks is the second best in the film playing a troubled guard at the green mile, but most of the credit has to go to Michael Clarke Duncan playing John Coffey who was the perfect choice for the role. A great film recomend to all.

After 8 years since its release I have finally gotten around to watch Frank Darabont's follow-up to his first Stephen King adaptation, the masterpiece that is The Shawshank Redemptation. This is a excellent well-rounded film that had me hooked from beginning to end. Tom Hanks, Michael Clarke Duncan and the entire supporting cast all each deliver exceptional performances and Darabont's script and direction are both first rate. This is a powerful and moving drama that if you haven't seen it (like I did for so long) then check it out now!

"We each owe a death, there are no exceptions, I know that, but sometimes..."

    Directed by : Frank Darabont
Casts : Tom Hanks,Michael Clarke Duncan

The Green Mile, one movie that I wish is based from true story,Green Mile drag me into the estrange world where miracle happens.Miraculous.Compelling.
    and Oddly Mindblowing
.The Green Mile, therefore,is a long journey, hours of a magical sphere and smart-plotted story, and for 3 hours-duration,every second in this movie counts as a hit.

As the first second goes, the story of Green Mile has already strike a quite hit.Well-plotted,magically-twisted,and beautifully written.Darabont has turned this piece from Stephen King down, brought the script into a 3-hours long movie where magic do realize.

Despite Tom Hanks Oscar's snub, which disturbed me so bad while I was watching this movie because it's like every actors in Green Mile coulda shoulda woulda win an oscar statuettes, the one that should get an extreme attention is Michael Clarke Duncan, who transformed his character into a non-other than a living-miracle,truly beautifully acted and pure acting masterpiece.

The Green Mile has accomplished a breakthrough also in the other department, such Cinematography,Set Archievement, and it's grandeur score. And it's not so hard to realize that Green Mile maybe the Best Book Adaptation ever,a brilliant piece of art,and one of the films we'll remember for it's sentimental depth and for making your heart tore apart.CLASSIC.

I loved this movie. From the director of "Shawshank Redemption" and also another tale from the classic Stephen King novels, comes this amazing story of a mystical man on wrongfully accused on deathrow with supernatural powers. The story is wonderful and stars the best cast of actors such as Tom Hanks and Michael Clarke Duncan. Emotionally touching to the heart and is a definite favorite of mine. ;)

Paul Edgecomb didn't believe in miracles. Until the day he met one..

    Rated: (R)
    Directed by: Frank Darabont
    Genres: Drama, Mystery & Suspense
Casts : Tom Hanks, Michael Clarke-Duncan, Sam Rockwell, Bonnie Hunt

"What happens on the mile stays on the mile. Always has."

"We each owe a death, there are no exceptions, I know that, but sometimes...
oh God, the Green Mile is so long...."

    -Paul Edgecombe-

It contains SPOILER! Just believe me, this one's the best movie I've ever watched and if you haven't watch it, you have 2 options : do nothing and spend the rest of your life not having any idea how cool this movie really is (shame on you) or watch it this instance and get fascinated by its awesomeness.
I have spent my 10 minutes sitting in front of my laptop without typing anything...I need to write the proper review for this flawless movie...a movie that succesfully scored the best 3 hours of my life and I'm not being exaggerate...

Paul Edgecomb is a slightly cynical veteran prison guard on Death row in the 1930's. His faith, and sanity, deteriorated by watching men live and die, Edgecomb is about to have a complete turn around in attitude. Enter John Coffey, He's eight feet tall. He has hands the size of waffle irons. He's been accused of the murder of two children... and he's afraid to sleep in a cell without a night-light. And Edgecomb, as well as the other prison guards - Brutus, a sympathetic guard, and Percy, a stuck up, perverse, and violent person, are in for a strange experience that involves intelligent mice, brutal executions, and the revelation about Coffey's innocence and his true identity.

Despite being three hours long, "The Green Mile" never drags for a moment...the acting are superb...Tom Hanks gives yet another Oscar-worthy performance as the perfect lead...he is a flawless cast for Paul Edgecomb...i can't even mention who is a better role than Hanks...
Tom Hanks and Michael Clarke Duncan undoubtedly astounding in it. It's a real shame that Tom Hanks wasn't nominated for Best Actor and shame that Michael Clarke Duncan didnt win Best Supporting Actor.
Human spirit is really the main subject of the picture, the nature of compassion and cruelty, death and dignity...
There are some emotionally gut-wrenching scenes... may you bring a whole box of tissues with you...the dark subject matter is contrasted, however, with dim-witted John Coffey, who was accused of raping and murder...

    SPOILER ALERT!
    SPOILER ALERT!
    SPOILER ALERT!

    ............................................

<s>It had been a twist of character...Coffey turned to be innocent and loving when he cured Edgecomb from his unrinary infection (he used to have constant paint during the first..i don't know...60 minutes of the movie) he also cured the warden's wife who suffer a deadly brain tumor using that special talent of his...so it really breaks my heart when he still had to face that blasted electric chair...for a crime he didn't commit! it's so poignant...FYI, this is just a trivia. Michael Clark Duncan was uncomfortable with having to grab Tom Hanks' crotch for the scene where he takes his infection away. Hanks left the set, came back to do the scene, Duncan grabbed at Hanks' crotch and was shocked because Hanks had put an empty water bottle in his pants. After that, Duncan felt more comfortable with the scene.</s>
    ............................................

Some other characters are meant to be really hateful yet intolerable...Percy Wetmore and Wild Bill bring the touch of exasperation and annoyance throughout the movie which make this movie even more colourful. Many times, a movie comes along that you know from the first few moments is going to be a great movie-going experience, one that touches you in deep places. This movie have the best quotes so it's a tough work to pick only one quote to penned here. Maybe some of you didn't find this appealing or somekind but believe you'll fall for it!
"The Green Mile" is such a movie, and no doubt is my pick for the best movie ever...

"On the day of my judgment, when I stand before God, and He asks me why did I kill one of his true miracles, what am I gonna say? That is was my job? My job?"

    -Paul Edgecomb-

Unreasonably dramatic, some bold statements according to humanity in all of us..It just lacks the raw and effective spirit of Shawshank.Very overrated.

This film is beautiful. I watched it on christmas eve and i cried nearly all the way through.

however...It must be said how much i hated Del's executioon scene. I am one who goes shakey watching any scene involving the electric chair, i am sure you can imagine how i was during this particular scene. To cut a long story short I couldnt sleep for 3 nights.
Anyone who dosent enjoy execution scenes in particular i urge you to NOT watch this scene....and possibly the short scene afterwards.
