Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006)
Directed by Adam McKay
Starring Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, Sacha Baron Cohen, Amy Adams, Michael Clarke Duncan, Leslie Bibb, Gary Cole«Cal Naughton, Jr.: There is something I want to get off my chest. It's about that summer, when you went away to community college. I got an offer to do Playgirl Magazine, and I did it. I did a full spread for Playgirl Magazine. I mean spread man, I pulled my butt apart and stuff. I was totally nude. it was weird, I... I mean you probably didn't hear about it because I went under the name of Mike Honcho. But I just wanted you to know that. If you can hear me, if it got into your brain somehow. That I spread my buttcheeks as Mike Honcho.»
Talladega Nights is a kind of movie that is easy to enjoy. It brings so much to the viewer, mainly a good lesson about life. Of course it's all in a satirical way but still it's something that you won't forget. Ricky is a born racer, since young age he enjoys racing a lot. He wants to be just like his dad, a badass racer who doesn't care about life, just lives everyday like it's his last. Too bad that Ricky never gets to see his dad for too long, he always seem to be missing out of his life. Years later and Ricky gets his chance to race, and he sooner becomes a great champion of NASCAR racing along with his friend Cal Naughton Jr. But all good comes to an end and one day an owner of the racing team decides to bring another member, a French champion called Jean Girard. To Ricky's horror not only he is really good at driving he is also gay. Shortly after Ricky is reaching a breaking point in his life, after a terrible crash that he had during one of the races, he must decide if he is ever to drive a racing car again.
A very solid comedy movie, it turns out to be much better than a normal comedy. Comedies don't really seem to be any good these days; I mean they are made to simply entertain people and nothing else and that's why there lots of comedies that just have lots of stupid jokes without any sort of storyline or concept. This one has a strong storyline and it is also trying to show a message even though it is being presented in a comical way. Will Ferrell is great in the leading role, and he isn't the only actor who does a great job; John C. Reilly is a great as one of the supporting actors, he never seem to be in the shade of Ferrell. Sacha Baron Cohen is hysterical as a French racer, especially with his parodies and the unforgettable French accent.
The story is well made, thought it does seem to be a bit slowly paced but it's always a pleasure to watch. Great special effects and it is really fascinating to watch all of the racing, it is a complete NASCAR reality. Adam McKay produced another fine comedy, following his debut with Anchorman.

The funniest movie ever
The funniest movie ever.
This is the funniest shat ever.
Will Farrell at his finest...first time i saw it, i thought it had it's moments but after seeing it again i just love the hell out this flick.
Brain-numbingly ridiculous, but in a very good way. A very funny movie, and another great comic performance from Will Ferrell. Sacha Baron Cohen is also hilarious.
"... And you ride it, you ride that skeleton horse through the gates of Hell..."
That has to be my favorite line in a movie filled with incredible funny lines. Such a great, stupid movie.
