Widely considered as the REAL Creepshow 3, Tales from the Darkside is basically a film version of the series which was supposed to be a spin-off of Creepshow from TV. In this movie version of the series Tales from the Darkside consists of Three tales of terror to creep you out. Just like Creepshow this starts with a wraparound story before going into the first story Lot 249 which stars Steve Busemi and Christian Slater as archaeology students with a deadly secret, The cat from Hell was intended for Creepshow 2 but it was transplanted to TFTD instead. Cat from hell stars David Johansen (the cab spook from Scrooged) stars as a hitman who may have met his match with a demon cat. Lastly my fave before the wraparound story was Lovers Vow, which stars James Remar as a artist who can't keep secrets and the moral of this story is be careful who you tell your secrets to or they may be your last. John Harrison does a great job bringing the stories to life with the right amount of terror to scare you and chill you to the bone. Unlike Creepshow 2 this is much more entertaining The three stories are more in the vein of Creepshow stories than Creepshow 2 was and I prefer this one to Creepshow 2. thats all i can say any more and it would give away the movie.

Fun. It's neat to see Debbie Harry, Matthew Lawrence, Steve Buscemi, & especially Julianne Moore early in their careers...

This was a childhood fav. Its right up there with Monster Squad, man. I LOVED this movie. The most memorable one was the killer cat. For some reason I remember that the most vividly, asides from the wee boy being locked in the cage, telling stories to the woman and trying to convince her not to cook him, was the one with the cat. I remember the old guy hiring this assassin and telling him that this cat has wiped out his entire family, and -pardon the pun -the assassin is left playing cat & mouse. I wont spoil the rest -just watch the frikkin movie! lol -Not a bad recollection, for something I watched about 10 years ago, and only saw once, possibly twice, at a push lol.
