MCT:June 4, 2008Puppet movies are much too rare as a genre and every time I get a chance to see one, I take it (I've just bought a copy of "Legend of the Sacred Stone" and I am desperately looking for bunraku DVDs.)
This one is a bit cold and uninvolving, but its has an interesting premise (the puppets are actually creatures that are brought to life by strings from heaven) and is visually inventive.
I might like it better on second viewing, but the first time was a bit boring. -

took a second viewing before I could stop gawping at the marionettes and the whole concept - then I could enjoy the story and be entertained - a great wee gem this one - a marmite of films (love or hate)

You either love it or think it's absolutely stupid but it's one of those movies you just have to see for the experience. Basically there isn?t really much I can say about this movie, words just wouldn?t explain it enough.
Think Pinocchio but more serious and not for children
