As a complete trash I'd give it a 5. As a regular movie, probably zero. This is the kind of trash it's hard to believe someone actually took the time to film. Yet, it is extremely funny at times.
This movie was amusing, but had some very big problems. One of which was a script that seemed a little half-assed. Despite really funny performances from all the actors (especially Steve Zahn, for whom I have a soft spot), the story really seems like it was written in an afternoon. Despite this there are genuinely funny moments. It's just too bad that they all take place in the first ten minutes of the film.
I really enjoyed this hilarious and inventive little gem of a flick about a struggling tv nature show and the zany lengths they go to as they face imminent cancellation. Recommended!
I expected more out of this movie since it was a Happy Madison production. It really wasn't all that funny. The director needs to learn that there are jokes that don't involve dicks and crudeness that still make people laugh. The language and obscenities were so bad they distracted from the actual film. The spoofy animal clips with the voiceovers made me laugh but everything else just went overboard.
Strange Wilderness is an awful film in reality. The plot is thinner than a microscopic germ and the acting is atrocious but there was some funny and sometimes hilarious parts.
I liked the concept, but it kinda fell. While the basic idea of a comedy about people who study animals, was perfect to me, it failed to be really funny.
I love Steve Zahn and Justin Long, and there were parts of this movie that were hilarious...it just didn't do it for me though. It's almost as if I feel they were all TRYING too hard to be funny. Like you could see the punch-line coming because of their body language or something. And there's a scene toward the end (right before they get out of the wilderness) that I really didn't like at all. I don't want to give the end away, but you'll know what I mean if you see it. They could have ended that part soooo much better. It got a chuckle, but that was it. So 2.5 stars for a movie that had the potential to be a 4 star movie. Watch it if you're bored I guess.
Yeah another one of those stupid silly movies just to pass the time.If you liked Knocked up and Superbad this is up your alley.Had a few pretty good laughs other than that kind of a dud.=)
aawh man this film was such a DRAG, any sense of humour is outweighed by the emptyness of the plot, so unless you want excruciating boredom stay clear of THIS.
The usual Happy Madison gang was here for this one. It also starred Steve Zahn, Justin Long, and Jonah Hill. Although there were a couple of "chuckle" moments, I'd have to say that this movie wasn't good. I like comedy, even slapstick, but I thought this one would be more enjoyable.
OK! I'm going to try and be kind to this film. These are the only reason it got any stars at all:
#1. Justin Long's best preformance somehow ended up in this movie
#2. Jonah Hill as a hillbilly, too awesome (seriously you will not belive that it's really Jonah)
#3. The vocie overs were the only consitently funny, my favs: "Monkies make up over 80% of the monky population" and (talking about a shark jumping on land to eat a seal) "It's a good thing there isn't an actual lion a shore or he wouldn't know what the f*** to do"
#4. The line "Ah shit it's a porcupine" when Justin Long sees a snake.
However funny this sounds it is ruined by stupid (not in a good way) pointless (not in a good way) imature (you geused it, not in a good way) jokes (for lack of a better word) a non-ending and closeups of disfigured dicks. My advise: downloud the good bits on you tube and skip the rest!
I was really looking forward to this film, because of the superb cast but I fails on so many levels. First of all the cast, great selection but sloppy characters and dialogue. I bet the producers of the film saw, grandma's boy, superbad, waiting and super troopers and decided to throw these talented actors into a film together, which would have work but didn't. There's no direction of the film or story. But it did make me laugh several times, which is why it is a comedy. Shame on Hollywood for ruining a good film with wasted talent. Watch Grandma's Boy, Super Troopers or Waiting... instead.
Created by the same people (and including some of the same actors) as Grandma's Boy. I didn't think that movie was all that great either.
This one has it's moments, and Ashley Scott is smokin', but for the most part it was just dumb.
Steve Zahn just annoyed me, acting like a moron...it almost seemed like they let him ad-lib too much and then didn't have time to edit out all the stupid shit.
I liked this movie but that isn't saying it wasn't a disappointment. I thought with the cast and being a Happy Madison production that it would be a lot funnier then it was. It had some laughs throughout the film but not quite enough to make you want to watch it numerous times.
this movie was cooool :D
its kinda like superbad its soo stupid but so hella funny.
i liked the high guy (from accepected) he was sooo funnny.
and then the way he recorded the animals.
L M A O.
How did so many decent comedic actors get caught up in such a terrible movie?
As with most Happy Madison comedies, Strange Wilderness subscribes to the lowest common denominator school of humour. It's almost required you be of "different mindset" (if you know what I mean) to enjoy it.
There's a couple of "this is so stupid, I can't help laughing" moments but generally this is a whole load of juvenile, offensive jokes that wastes Steve Zahn, Jonah Hill, and the other recognizable cast members.
Hard to believe but this might just be as bad as The Benchwarmers - and that's quite a feat.
Maybe it was the booze...but holy crap I laughed a lot watching this movie...especially the nature scene voice overs...we must have watched the shark bit over and over again like 20 times and kept laughing and laughing...
