because i am a hugh fan of the original Star Wars trilogy and when i found out they were making the other three films i just couldn't wait to watch them and i was really hoping that they would be just as good as the original trilogy.

Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace is the first film in the Star Wars saga. the story is about Two Jedi knights, Qui-Gon Jinn and a young Obi-Wan Kenobi, along with a Naboo outcast, named Jar-Jar Binks, must help Queen Padmé save her world from greedy trade executives, and along the way, they discover a young boy, named Anakin Skywalker, who has the potential to be a powerful Jedi himself.

this film has good specail effetc with a great story and also great set peices. this was the tagline for this film : Every generation has a legend. Every journey has a first step. Every saga has a beginning.

Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace is a great film but the one thing i didn't like about it was the character of jar-jar binks because i thought his character was a comdey and i thought tht spoiled this film. this film was released during the summer 0f 1999.

While this film was one of the most disliked in the Star Wars Saga, I found it to be quite charming. Liam Neeson, Samuel L. Jackson and Ewan McGregor did a marvelous job acting in this movie. Working with CGI characters and the like is not an easy task, but these characters managed to pull it off with ease. The character Jar-Jar Binks was a little much to handle at times, but he was not the nusance lots of people made him out to be. A film should be looked at as a whole, and not judged solely on one character. The speical effects were pretty well done for 1999, and you cannot ignore the pure epic-ness of the end battle between the Sith apprentice Darth Maul vs. Obi Wan and Qui Gon.

The thing is about this movie is that there is no surprise except "ooooh, so this is how it all began." No story developped that well, no first trilogy quality. But great music. Very great music.

It needed MUCH more Darth Maul battling, and just cut out that slobbering fish guy or the two-headed announcer... or even any Jabba The Hut animations in this and Star Wars A New Hope.

For that matter, Lucas used a horrible puppet in this one for Yoda, yet stuck to better CGI Yoda for the other two... and since they were only releasing the Special Edition Star Wars films for dvd until recently, why not tweek ze Phantom Menace when THAT was put onto dvd?

Am I The Only One That Likes Episode 1 & 2? I Mean Besides The Annoying Jar Jar What's Not To Like? Ok So Anakin Started Out As A Crying Little Bitch But That Just Sets The Mood Perfectly When The Sudden Change To The Dark Side Begins. I Think They Are Just As Good And Important To The Entire Saga And Episode 3 Proves That Being The Best One Of All.

Ok, here's one for all you people who thought episodes 1-3 were any good.
WATCH THE MOVIES WITH THE JUST THE SOUND AND NO PICTURE!!!
That's right, without CGI what is there? Mmm, mmm, mmm, just listen to that dialog.

Oh, I just ruined the movies for you. SORRY!

    LOL!
Quote : "HEY! anything with the STAR WARS logo is fantastic,..." Even though it's total shit!? So what is being said by most is that if George Lucas dumped a smelly load and stamped the Star Wars logo on it (like episodes 1-3), it would be cool, fantastic, terrific, genius, etc...? Think about it for a second.
If these 3 films (just bear with me and suspend disbelief) hadn't had the Star Wars tag would you still consider them great pieces of film history? Maybe for just the CGI I could understand.
OMFG episodes 1-3 had NO loveable characters what-so-ever, zero witty dialog and a kid whom had zero acting ablity and was fitted for the role simply for looks.
CGI was the only thing these films had going for them. The only thing that was missing in the theatres were video game controllers.

It doesn't matter anymore all starwars are the best. George lucas try his best to make these starwars movies you people just don't how much touble he took to direct episodes 1,2 and 3. To me all are the same. Enjoy the starwars saga and the starwars saga is not complete without episode 1 and the starwars must begin with something. And now episode 3 is done the starwars saga is complete.
