Linda: "Do people like you Alex?"
    Alex: "Not much, no."
Linda: "I'm not surprised. It's because those glasses don't look right on your face."

Ok why have I not heard about this film until now?!?! Always loved Alan Rickman but Sigourney Weaver is bloody brilliant playing the autistic mother. Everyone should see this, first 10 minutes you think it's going to be a bit slow and then....well I'm not gonna spoil it for you. Amazing acting, touching, has depth but still makes you laugh. Watch it =)

There are still out there pictures that combine a little bit of a comedy and a bit more of a drama, with both sides well-delivered and "Snow Cake", although oriented around such difficult subject that is autism and guilt, turns out to be one of them.

No relevation or deep message comes out of it, it's mostly an actors' show, especially Alan Rickman's, who's as remarkable as always and lovely Carrie-Anne Moss', who, even though in supporting role, shines as his love interest. It is also interesting to see Signourney Weaver in a very challenging part, especially since the world usually connects her with Ellen Ripley. Whether she was up for the task, I'll leave to you.

"Snow Cake" is modest and often charming in the way how gently it treats its flawed characters. One may find it a bit slow here and there, but it captures the climate of small town life, with its sense that nothing's going to happen in the next ten years.

After all, it is nice to see a picture that tells its story straight without any technical distractions, keeps it simple and therefore truthful and while it is quite possible that I'll forget it in the next few days, it's always a pleasure to watch true talent on screen, turning ordinary situations into interesting ones.

Great cast. As a big Sigourney Weaver fan myself...which tells me that the script or story must be fantastic!! Alan Rickman is a great talent--think of him more as a classic stage actor...so this must be quite the personal performance film. I had heard nothing about this film--only one person on Flixster's recommendation.

MOST UNDERRATED FILM OF 2006! Excellent, excellent performances all around, especially Sigourney Weaver. Alan Rickman proves he's still sexy at 60.

Snow Cake has the perfect start. But has very little to cheer besides the wonderful performances that follow.

I was afraid constantly throughout this film that all concerned were in over their head. I shouldn't have been. The performances stay on track, skirting the edge of maudlin without falling in. Lessons typically used in this subject matter are taught, not preached. A couple of questions are addressed rather late in the story and the title reference is a little too quaint, but that didn't matter. I could have done without the voice-over at the end though. Still, I would have to say that it was one of the most satisfying dramas that I have seen in a while. Well worth looking into.

A very touching movie with great, realistic performances and very real humour. The death of a hitchiker leads Alex, a man with his own demons to the victims mother, Linda. She is autistic and grieves in a very different way to Alex. Linda insists Alex stays with her at least until 'trash day', because she doesn't like to touch trash. A wonderful relationship blossoms between them, and also between Alex and Linda's neighbour Maggie. Between them, they help Alex come to terms with his past. An incredible movie!

    Amazing movie!
Here's an interesting story plot that keeps you intrigued within every moment. Fascinating tale into the journey of one man's abrupt experience, and how it changes him in the end. Alan Rickman and Sigourney Weaver are absolutely great! Carrie-Anne Moss co-stars. Fantastic music! A must-see.

A beautiful film showing life dealing with autism and autism dealing with death and the modern world dealing with the lack of grief in autism.

I have no idea what this film could be compared with but definitely nothing shown in the list of suggestions here.

A very realistic film which contrary to most films in the drama genre (positively) lacks the love story.

Definitely a must-watch film for the realists among us.

Very powerful and awesome. Made my cry and smile a lot. Alan Rickman is simply brilliant. I recommend this movie to everyone. But a warning, this is on a quite difficult subject. It's not just some brainless movie. It actually makes you think a lot about life.

Rickman & Sig Weaver are excellent. Hampshire is fantastic. Moss pulls her weight, but is not as magnetic as she was as Trinity or in Memento. Must see for the Autism issues that are explored.
