Lisa Reisert hates to fly, but the terror that awaits her on the night flight to Miami has nothing to do with a fear of flying. Moments after takeoff, Lisa's seatmate, Jackson menacingly reveals the r...( read more

I was so glad to see a movie where the girl wasn't afraid to hurt the people coming after her. I hate it when the girl just sits there and does nothing.
Lisa works for a major hotel, she lives and breath work, until she has to fly our of town for her grandmothers funeral. On the way home she meets Jackson, who comes off as a nice guy. His name as he says it is Jackson Ripner(They make a joke about this in the film, that was kinda lame) So they hit it off, talking and laughing about nothing really. It all seems well, until they get onto the plane where it quicjkly spirals out of control and it was quickly. Jackson just happens to throw his plot to kill a major government official Lisas way. The catch(Which isnt much of a catch) is that the official happens to be staying at Lisas hotel. A grand scheme, this was.
Cillian Murphy as Jackson Ripner(Yes , I happen to like the name, it was a play on words) was fresh at first, but his I stop at nothing attitude quickly gets old. He begins to be a superhuman and takesa bunch of punishment from Lisa, more than any normal can take. He hoped that Lisa would be out of town. It was a crazy scheme that almost seemed impossible.
It develops at a quick and alamrming rate for Lisa, who is in way to deep. She explians at one point in the film why she hates being in hotage crisis. That speech she gave was the birghtest moment of the entire film. The Speech she gave sounded sincere and from the heart, and a lot like a real life person. But then Jackson reveals a secret. Ahh yes another catch. Thats two catches in less than one hour and 30 minutes. If Lisa does not help him, he has a man waiting to kill her father. Again not really an original catch.
This film is a thriller, that fails. Sorry for all the sopilers, but Jackson Ripner(Yes I said it again) is not a bad character, he just has flaws in development.
eww that guy creeps me out.. he looks like a girl.. rachel mcadams is so pretty.. and her friend was so funny and adorable!! haha
Sweet thriller!! Rachel McAdams is gorgeous in dis.. i think she looks da best wit brown hair..
A great movie. It was scary but not to scary, just enough. Was a good movie, good twists and a good ending. Loved it.
I looked foward to seeing this and it really wasn't what I wexpected it to be but other thatn that important detail it was alright
Not bad. Satisfying enough considering the director is Wes Craven. I remember I enjoyed it at the time, but when I think of it now I can't help but yawn.
An edge-of-your-seat suspense thriller.
Rachel McAdams was great as the victim and Cillian Murphy as the villain. He acted brilliantly and looked really creepy, plus he put on a really good American accent. The thing I love about Wes Craven's films is that I can watch them over and over and not get bored.
This film takes place on an aeroplane where a buisness woman (Rachel McAdams) meets a totally stranger (Cillian Murphy) whom at first she starts to like. However as the aeroplane leaves the land he becomes more mysterious and scary. He begans to narrate facts about her family , especially her father . He also tries to manipulate her , when he told her that she had to phone at the hotel she worked in so that the president that was going to spent a few days there would change his room so that his men would kill him ! If not her father would die ! A very breathtaking movie !Flixster - Share Movies
not too scary but good .
i wouldnt want to be rachel mcadams on that plane with that creep... on the other hand ... he was very hottt..ok movin on . :p
Red Eye is a very typical suspense teen horror from the guy who brought you Scream.
The main problem I had with Red Eye was the same problem I had with the Scream films. The intelligence of the characters.
I understand that in a way some of the characters are purposely made to be dumb in order to create the thrilling scenes, but the things the stupid characters do is just unforgivable, down right stupid and something you just wouldn't do.
The stupid character in this film is the main character played by gorgeous Rachel McAdams. Some of the things she does are just silly. All other characters are just about useless apart from Cillian Murphy's character, who actually gives a good performance.
The first 40 minutes or so of the film seemed promising. I was expecting a kind of psychological thriller on a plane, but what I got was just another silly teen thriller from Wes Craven. I suppose I should've seen it coming...
Don't get me wrong, I respect Craven's work as I think it's great how he builds up tension and creates thrills in his scenes, but his character development is something left to be desired.
Overall, you should check out Red Eye only if you enjoyed the Scream films or if you enjoy watching pointless thrillers. Otherwise, stay clear.
i thought this film was actually really good and i know its more of a horror but some bits were quite funny-hehe.
YO Cillian is sexy man and Rachel is hot 2. i like this movie and i know it was kinda crappy but u got actors like them u cant help but like it!Flixster - Share Movies
Hotel worker, "Lisa" (Rachel McAdams) hates flying, but that fear is nothing like the one she is about to experience.
While in line waiting to check in at the "Fresh Air" (what a dumb name huh?) desk, she meets "Jackson" (Cillian Murphy). They bump into each other a little later on at the airport bar, and have a flirtatious conversation. They bump into each other yet again on the plane, where they have neighboring seats. But that is where the nice story ends.
He informs her that she must do a task for him, or her father (Brian Cox) will be killed by one of his men waiting for the order to shoot just outside his home. To complicate things, her decision on doing the task will also determine if a high-profile guest (Jack Scalia) who will be checking in at the hotel she works at in Miami with his family.
She tries to do whatever she can in the close quarters of the jet-liner, but "Jackson" is always one step ahead of her.
Now, she must do whatever it takes to escape her captor, while saving that high-profile hotel client and her father.
There are a lot of realistic things in this movie: rude passengers who want what they want and only what they want, cheerful flight attendants and a passenger that so annoys you that the only way to not kill them is act pleasant as you try to get away from him or her. On the other hand, there are some things that are not very realistic like how could nobody on the plane know there is a problem between "Lisa" and the man who is essentially her captor?
Because of the short length of the movie (approximately 85 minutes) the action and suspense comes flying at you. And the real good performances from the co-stars help you believe in the suspense.
The two main characters are well written and performed. You instantly like her, and you slowly begin to hate him, causing you to cheer her. What really enhances the tension is something happened in her past, which she explains to her captor, that makes her more scared of him as she has flashbacks to that previous incident.
Because of the length of the movie, everything is pretty rushed. Therefore there are some problems with the movie. One of which is that the supporting characters have little to no development. You also get very little time to catch your breath between action sequences. You also have to deal with a poorly presented secondary plot evolving around the high-profile hotel guest.
The climax of the movie is pretty weak. It also has very little to do with what "Lisa" went through during the story.
If you ask me, this could be a fairly good choice next time you go to your local video rental place.
Weak storyline, predictable, could have used a bit more creativity.. still both the leads did a great job which actually helped a lot..
Cillian Murphy was amazing and I hope we start seeing him in more good parts, he's really got a great talent
ok if you don't like suspense, this movie is not for you. Its one of the most intense movie i have ever seen. I recommend it.
a women who works at a hotel she was going to maiamie by a plane a guy sits next to her and he told her if u dont call hotel and tell them to move this to this room ill kill u ! then when she goes to the bathroom in the plane she writes witha lipstick on the wall a litlle blond girl see's her !............
This movie is great. It is very suspenseful. Rachel McAdams played the role very well. The little bit of action that is in this movie is great.
This was a very chilling thriller. Cillian Murphy was great as the bad guy, and rachel mcAdams was good too.
A completely formularic but fairly well executed thriller. The first part of the movie set on the plane (which thankfully is the majority of the film) is much stronger than the film's climax once they land.
It's well acted and has enough gloss on everything else. And Rachel McAdams is gorgeous so I enjoyed it more than I probably should have.
Overall not bad, but nothing special.
Personal enjoyment: 6/10
Actual quality as a film: 6/10

this was an okay movie i thought it was really short and i thought it was obvious that the guy was evil in the beginning
I LOVE CILLIAN.HES WAS GOOD IN THAT MOVIE CALLED 28DAYS ...THAT WAS GOOD AND SO WAS THIS ONE..I DID NOT THINK HE WAS EVIL TIL I FINISHED THIS MOVIE..THEN I WISHED HIM DEAD..LIKE ALL BAD MEN IN MOVIES..LOVE HIS WORK THO KEEP IT UP..BYE
Decent enough movie considering it looks low budget.Solid enough story but very short clocking in only around 75 mins.
I was really frightened by this since I am fearful of flying, as well. I predicted some of the outcome, but it was great suspense and it kept me interested throughout.
Limp, predictable, waste of time. I kept waiting for something interesting to happen ....... It managed to make Murphy about as scary as Barney. Woeful cliched tosh.

This was one of the best movies ever! This was definitely in my top 5 list of thrillers! Cillian is disturbingly great as the terrorist-type individual, and is very intimidating. Rachel is brillant as always. I love her in this role because it's so different from her other movies! I hope she continues in this genre! Cillian too!
I don't think I'll ever sit near Cillian in an airplane after seeing this movie.
This movie is full of suspense, surprise and keep you gripping till the end. There is young brave girl how she tackles the problem the lesson is if you want you can become a problem for someone else, you can do anything wisely.she is a hotel manager traveling back to Miami after her Grandmother passed away, she has a fear of flying and thankfully her flight is delayed due to bad weather, but that lets her get introduced to a young man who seems like a perfectly nice guy. With a twist of fate he is seated right next to Lisa on the flight. Soon after take off she realizes that Jack needs her more then she knows, he needs her in order to assassinate head of Homeland Security, staying at her hotel. Jack threatens her with her father’s life if she refuses to co-operate., she is afraid of flying, she is at 30,000 feet with nowhere to run and the logical thing to do is co-operate....but can you set up an assassination plot on someone to save someone you love. This is really a great movie I liked very much.
