Plot: Renegade Vietnam War veteran John Rambo comes out of retirement as a boat repairman in Bangkok to track down missionary aid workers who have disappeared in the jungles of impoverished Myanmar.
From how good everyone else said this movie was, i was kinda disappointed. I mean its still a pass and a decient movie, but overall I wasn't incredably interested in the movie since it was pretty much ll action scenes and lack of a good story line. Still, some of the action scenes were pretty badass, but it could have been much better.
When I had first seen Rambo I was expecting lots of action and it had a ton. So far Rambo was the best action movie of 2008. I thought that the action was very graphic and hard to watch at some parts. The thing that was very shocking to me is that some of this stuff is really happening in different countries. I strongly advise that kids should not see this movie because of the very graphic action scenes. Sylvester Stallone did a great job playing John Rambo again. When I had seen this I didn't see the first bloods or any of the old Rambo movies. So I couldn't compare the old ones to the new one. I thought that the story was great as well. The acting was also surprisingly really good. The direction it was going was very good about never giving up and fighting until you have nothing left. The movie was even better because John Rambo didn't fight everyone and go into the war zone on his own, he went with mercenaries. All the men were very tough and not afraid of death which was awesome. Some of the visual effects in it were good as well. Overall I think that this was a great movie and will go under my favorite action movies of all time. So if you want some graphic action than this is a perfect movie for you.
funny - in a bad way. typical one man verse an entire country that cant shoot straight type of movie haha

This is the best rambo yet. It is so entertaining from start to finish. It is filled with pervasive strong brutal violence and gore; which is so realistic. This is the most intense battle/war movie ive ever seen so far. Sylvester Stallone was outstanding playing as rambo for the 4th time. I heard that there making a 5th Rambo sometime next year. Rambo 5 will take place where it left off at the end of this sequel; where rambo finally came home. Something was unexpecting when he got home. John just realized that he has a daughter that he dosen't even remember that has been Kidnapped. Im not going to tell you no more of what happens on the 5th sequel. You'll just have to wait and find out. Sorry, ya'll its too much of a spoiler to give away.
Oh Yea! Everyone; especially rambo fans, like me & my bro get this on blu-ray. Its sooo totally worth it. Ive got it on blu-ray and its a blast. Everytime i watch Rambo im experiencing war/ battle on high definition surround sound. Its AWESOME!
John Rambo - Live For Nothing or Die For Something. You're Call!
I was looking forward to this movie, having been a fan of the series (although I admit the quality dipped a little with each chapter). I was greatly disappointed with this (hopefully) final episode. It was pretty clear that they just mailed this one in to collect a paycheck. The story was failry weak, the dialogue forced and cliched, and the action scenes were so over-the-top as to be laughable. While the series has always stretched the limits of believability, some of Rambo's feats in this film are so cartoonish they're an insult to the men who fought in Southeast Asia. If you haven't already seen this one, don't bother. Rent "First Blood" instead. It's a far superior movie.
i liked all his Rambo movies, and the Terminator movies were super too..I watch them every time they are own..
I enjoyed this movie. Rambo made me proud by killing tons of people!! Lots of heads blown off, body parts flying off, people blown in half...that's just how I like it. The story was alright and the acting was typical for a Rambo movie.
the main thing is realism. every explosion or gunshot looks so real. it's the best rambo film in the series. kinda wish stallone had directed them all now. i didnt like the other rambo films. they all had uninteresting parts.... parts to fall asleep to. didn't look at the time once while watching this
This is pretty standard "Rambo-esque" action, with a lot more gore. Although Stallone has aged quite a bit since the first Rambo came out, he still looks pretty dang good for someone his age!!! *drool*
The storyline is similar to the second Rambo (there are three prior to this years remake), and begins where part three left off with John Rambo living a quiet secluded life in Thailand...
The graphics were much more gruesome than any of the other movies, and in my opinion, it made the movie just that much more realistic...
Yep, if you liked the first three, you will definitely enjoy watching part four. But be warned, it does seem to be a short movie and the end comes up before you know it!!!
I liked it a lot and since I own the other three, I am sure I will be adding this one to my collection and watching it again and again!
i'm just a rambo fan, so all i can say is that "killing is easy as breathing when you're pushed" .... lol i love that quote.
When you go to see John Rambo in action, you definitely get what you pay for. Be forewarned: This has to be one of the most realistically violent and gory films I've ever seen. It is absolutely brutal. And that's what people who go to see Stallone want to see.
Violent and straight-forwardly simple as this one is, however, I really have to hand it to Sylvester Stallone. It's been about thirty years since he burst on the scene with Rocky, and he has not wavered in his commitment to putting up generally solid entertainment. He is definitely no one's pawn. He's true to himself, he is absolutely self-driven, and he surely is the proverbial self-made man. I stand in awe of his intensity.
A big plus for this installment is the exposure viewers have to the real problems of genocide -- the plight of the Karen people -- in Burma. I also give him great credit for this.
I can't say I'm sure I'd ever want to have a beer with Mr. Stallone, but he really is admirable in many ways.
This is the purest definition of mindless fun in cinema that I've seen in the past couple of years. This film follows a very linear and predictable storyline, but it was loads of fun.Warning: this is not for the weak. It's nice to see ruthless gore with no CGI, but it's hard to stomach for the light-hearted... especially since there are numerous scenes of brutal killings of women and children, including one where a young child is ripped from his mothers arms and flung into a fire like an expendable toy.
Although this is merely a sequel, I think this is how a Rambo film is supposed to be made. This film pays homage to the original and it was tactfully done.
The movie was shot very well, I loved the constant raining conditions they had to endure. This film also introduces the trouble in Myanmar, which I never knew about.
This is one badass 91 minute pure adrenaline rush that any hardcore fan of action will love.
As John Rambo returns to action, he relentlesly slaughters his enemies in an action-packed spectical so bloody and violent that any zombie movie will seem calm.
two words.....FUCKING AWSOME! stallone proves he can still kick some mother fucking ass in this flick the last half and hour is the best of the best i have seen in a action flick in a while with that big ass 50 cal blowing shit away and slicing peoples throuts fucking cool man!
I got what I expected from going to see a Rambo film..not much plot, a lot more gore and pointless things blowing up action...I liked it.
I went to see Rambo and I have to tell u that this movie rocked all the way through. It was filled with some much action, blood, gore, and violence from start to finish. It was one of the most entertaining movies that I've seen so far this year. This was the best Rambo to date b/c you can experience seeing all the violence what Rambo causes throughout towards the bad soldiers. I loved every waking minute of this movie. I will definitly like to see it again when it comes to DVD. So if your in the mood for boody violent entertainment & action & gore filled excitement, then u should definitly go see it, you wont regret it.
forget about script, story or cast. this film was made simply for people to spend 1 hour 21 minutes watching people get killed (in graphic detail). its never gonna be a great action flick as it was made 20 late, but if you got nothing to do and can bare the blood... watch it!
This was quite enjoyable. Different to the other Rambo films. Stallone seemed to play the part in quite a low-key way. The real footage in the intro made it hard to watch the village slaughter scene.
this movie was perfect, Stallone is back as John Rambo and i must say he is dam sexy and even know he is 60 odd, he can still run through a jungle.
There is ALOT of gore compared to the other 3 Rambo movies, in this one
u all must watch this movie
The best since 1982's FIRST BLOOD. Action-packed, brutal and entertaining throughout. RAMBO is a definite must-see!

it's a very good movie !
it's GREAT .
and funny at the smae time ! !!!!!
I really like the concept of the this movie. It was just really a shame that things that were portrayed in the movie is actually happening in Burma. It really show how truly evil human beings can be.
very good movie i like it. if anyone knows me please add me again at new account.
Ignore the reviewers. This is one of the best action films I have ever seen in my life. Fast-paced, epic, gritty and violent (as war is), and actually about a current event people should be aware of (Burma), even if they learn of it through this film. Stallone doesn't do a lot of talking, but he makes his words count. The characters are believable and the reactions the civilian-types give during the fighting, etc makes perfect sense. I've got to say that if you have any reservations seeing this film over the reviews, ignore them and see it. If you are squeamish, do not.
I have to agree with Andrew,I can find no proof that Sam Elliott was in the movie. And I did some searching after I saw the flixster cast lineup.
