Plot: A group of medical students devise a deadly game: to see which one of them can commit the perfect murder.
I'm not really sure if this film deserved four stars or not, I'm still really confused as to how I'd rate it.
When I first saw it advertised at the cinema, my borther and I thought it looked dreadful, more laughable than suspenseful - but it turned out it was a lot better than the trailer made it look.
I think the claim that it wasn't really 'violent' enough for some people is a pretty weak argument, personally I loved how it was focused more on the psychological fear, rather than just a flat out murder spree, it gave the film the edge of suspense. Plus the fact that it wasn't just straight forward seirial killing 'Oh I'm going to cut you up' murder, but rather well thought out, intelligent murder, fit with the plot a lot better and did help to develop the narrative.
To be honest I didn't sympathise much with Ted, he murdered people too and was just as bad as the rest of them, but then that didn't mean I didn't enjoy the film. I liked the fact that I could see how Ted's life got so out of control, but yet I still didn't feel for him (Gwen on the other hand I did feel for, it wasn't her fault she didn't know what low company the man she loved had started hanging out with, or what they did on their nights off).
I disagree with anyone that claimed the acting was weak as well, personally that was part of the appeal the film had for me. I thought all the cast did such an incredible job at displaying the rang of emotions that flittered through the film. Whether it was Johnny Whitworth's (who I love as an actor) carefree, joking attitude that conveyed how he really did see it as a game. As if taking the lives of people was more something to laugh about than feel bad about. Or whether it was the complete opposite, with both Milo Ventimiglia and Michael Weston (particularly him) potraying how these characters let their lives, and this 'game', get so out of control that it has shocking consequences. Either way I didn't think you could really fault them, maybe the characters were a little annyoing but I thought that was also kind of the point. The camera work at times was also incredible, I loved the shot of Ted running to help Gwen, and as he goes through the corridor you see Jake standing in the shadows, it ws literally blink and you miss it (as my friend did). I also loved the low level lighting, and the use of the red tint when Ted starts to get the feeling that something is wrong on the first night.
So far it seems I've only focused on the good parts of the film, that isn't to say there weren't some parts that really irked me. I thought someones desription of 'soft porn' was kind of fitting. I mean sometimes it fit with the story, and how out of control everything was, but after a while I was thinking 'yes we get the point, can we not just move on with the story?'. I also thought the story, as a whole, was kind of obvious, I mean even if you couldn't guess all the twists and turns it was obvious how it was going to go. And as for the gore (which apparently, because there wasn't a lot of, made the film 'boring' in some peoples perception) the worst part was by far the sex scene between Jake and Juliette. I didn't really want to see all the stuff with the needles and the nipples!
Overall a film that had its good moments and its bad moments, but I think I'd give it points for effort. The cast tried, the camera work was usually very good and the use of colour fit well with the mood of the film. It won't be a film for everyone, in fact I think I'd find it hard to recommend it to anyone and be 100% sure that they'd enjoy it.
it had a good start, but as the movie goes on it totally lost its plot. i'm not sure how to explain how degrading, disgusting this movie is. i'm still recovering from the unsightly scenes. very disappointed.
definitely not for squemish people like me. didnt finish this movie. it was pointless. im sure i didn't miss out
A thriller movie with much violence , sex and drugs. The usual stuff for this type of movies. Story decent and acting aswell but the story i thought were kinda bad but overall watchable.
Love it! It challenge you to the bones (literally).. hot, seducing, mean and thrilling till the end.
this movie looked so cool in the perviews but in realty it was boring, lets just say the best prats of the movie were in the perview. the story seem really percikatble witch i exsepacted but i thought it was going to be atlest be a bit intertaning but was not even that. all the actor seemed to not be into thre prats like they know why bather this stuff sucks. so save some money and time and get anther movie.
I found the movie to be somewhat entertaining, worth the money to rent it... maybe not but regardless it kept me occupied for about 90 min. I don't think i would recommend the movie to anyone but if you like disgusting games there is a site i found for pathology that is very cool as well as gory.
the site is...

i think its an ok movie but it gives people bad idias to kill people in the real world yh there is sex and tits in so wot its not like you cant find some out in the street like your gf or friend.
What a load of rubbish and terrible character development. So what do they do to make up for it...yes you are right they put sex scenes and tits in the film.
If I wanna watch a film just for sex scenes I will rent an x-rated film which do better character devolopment than this trash.
