The western genre is alive and as varied and complex as ever. Ranging from the straight forward gun fest to the introverted drama. It's enough to read the cast list of this movie to know it's going to be something out of the ordinary; Robert Duvall, Annette Bening, Michael Gambon, and none of them disappoint. This is a story about a time and place that brought out the very best and the very worst in people, who you are is what you do with what you've been given. Nice balance and a good flow, offers both gun fights and more reflective scenes. A very good western.

This is one of the best westerns I have seen. It is a little bias on my part-I like Kevin Costner and the World Premiere of this movie was right here in my hometown, saw Kevin and everything. Anyway-it is drawn out in places but the action is well directed and the drama well thought out.

Costner is in his element here. He doesn't miss on westerns and this is no exception. GREAT film. Duvall should have been nominated and the love story doesn't ruin the rest of the film. Don't miss it!!!

This is probley my favorite western next to John Wayne and Dean Martins Rio Bravo. It has a good plot and I dont get tired of watching it. Robert Duvall shows us agine just how talented he is. Along with Kevin Costner and Annette Bening.

It was a very good movie. I am not really a fan of Kevin Costner though. One Of our family friends was one of the wranglers on the set of this movie, and He said kevin Costner wasnt really that nice of a guy, but Robert Duvall was one of the nicest he has met. I think someone else should have played costners part....
