The music was absolutely amazing. A simplistic story really reflecting a possible real life scenario. It was refreshing to see a no drama film for once.

Wow so what do you get when you take a story,A Plot and strip down and beat all the "Hollywood" off of it?Scary thought huh?Yes,Because then you are dependent oin2 things a story that can carry itself, and then actors who are convincing enough to keep you interested in that story. Not to mention I have never even heard of the actors that were in this before seeing it.However it doesn't matter something big came from something very small. This movie was likre the little engine that could It's like a present from your best friend that means so much to you,and is so dear, you want to keep it and hold it as close to your heart as possible. If you could just ball it up and keep it in your shirt ,or jacket pocket all day and just take it out and listen, and feel what is really being said here from time to time. How do you explain a movie that is so great and so full of passion, and explain, there are no explosions,no exciting 40 minute sex marathons,no non-stop comedy, but yet everyone should see this.I guarantee there is something in everyone's life that they are going through right now,This very day, this movie will move you,and hone in and kick that very emotion into high gear.I for once and kind of left speechless again,All I can say is the movie is Amazing yes,I say that alot, but saying it here is an understatement. Its beautiful its is simple,it's just like life,Enjoy this one,EVERYONE should see this.Men this is not a chick flick there is a story for you here too,I swear.=)

It's so melancholic. The relationship between the Guy and the Girl is so beautifully and realistically depicted that you will find yourself thinking and speaking for them.

I don't even know what to say. I was so impressed by this movie. It was a really good story backed by incredible music. Or rather some incredible music backed by a good story. Either way I loved it. Can't wait to buy it.

This is why I watch movies! Once is full of beauty, heart, and amazing music. It's a Cinderella story for indie filmmakers everywhere.

Film inaspettatamente sopra le righe con una colonna sonora da applausi. Lo stile della regia ricorda da vicino i film di Ken Loach. Incredibile naturalezza dei due protagonisti.

A very enjoyable film! The two were a joy to watch and the music and singing were awesome! The acoustic indie style is a style I really enjoy and also feel I need to listen to more! Again, this was a very enjoyable film. :D

What a little gem! This was obviously very cheap to make but they achieved so much. Filmed in a low-budget documentary style, they were able to create a very realistic portrayal of life on the streets of Dublin, which i liked.
The relationship on the 2 main characters is really interesting, you're not quite sure what they both want but it's great to watch and not know.
The music is brilliant, so much so i had to get it and watching them play it live on screen is really thrilling.
There's not much obvious conflict or many dramatic events within this story, but that's ok, sometimes everyday life is like that, and to be honest, it was quite refreshing to see strangers pull together and be be creative and end up happy at the end of a film without much struggle. A delicate heart-warming little film.

Loved it!!! A wonderful love story between a busker and an eastern european girl who have a chance encounter. Set in Dublin and just beautifully directed. I lived in Ireland for a year so it has a special connection for me too.

This film shows everything that is good about indipendent film; everything is bad and that is what makes it great! The actors are all first timers and it has a raw feel however they are not the best actors. But you don't notice. The story feels adlibed and is way to plain in the language to be scripted; it feels real but dosn't really go far- it's a simple story...this is realism. I never thought I would not olnly like but GET realism...good for me. Finally, I need to note that the song that this film won best original song for needs to be heard in context- that's where it shines. So for once in my life I am finally saying I get and like a realist film! My film instructor would be proud!

I've got to say that this one is a unique movie, it just different than the other movie, especially for a musical movie... For example is this movie didn't mention the name for the actors and actress that played in this movie, just a few of them are mentioned... The chemistry between Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova are great, their emotion are very natural... The song in this movie is magnificent, it's all easy listening, deep, and great that I've already heard them... Great and unique musical movie... Even that, I didn't got the story pretty well... It's just the song that keep me awake... And love the 'Falling Slowly' song, it's really deserved to win an Oscar because it is a really great song..

    SPOILER ALERT!

I knew they weren't going to go for it during the motorcycle scene, when she begs to take it for a ride "just once," and he declines risking it. I knew it was a metaphor for whether he was up to risk going for it with her. She probably would have gone for it, but it was in his hands and he didn't even know.

"Once is an independent film by excellency" and because its indie tone the movie pays-off well, that tone goes along with the sweet&sour theme of the movie. It's a mixture of good things that form a simple story and the simplicity itself is another of its good things. Even the songs are excellent, they play an important role: they tell you how to feel and react to the images or sequences. In other words "Once" is a once in while movie experience!

One of the best indie films I've seen in a long time. It was such an inspirational tale, and Glen Hansard's vocals are amazing. This film was well deserving for the Best Original Song Oscar...On only 130000 Euros too. Marvelous.

Such a beautiful and simple film, with amazing music. Some of the songs were unbelievably beautiful.
I also loved the how simple the camera work was, it sometimes felt more like a fly on the wall music documentary than a film, and that fit perfectly with the whole tone and story of the movie.
Overall I really recommend it, so simple and yet so beautiful it should take your breath away.
