This is a must see. A family classic. I don't know anyone who has seen this and not loved it. If you don't love it you must be heartless.
A classic from when I was a kid. Poor dog died in the end. Ooops! I hope I didn't ruin the ending. I think I cried when the dog was shot. It's been to long since I've seen this.
Dude I'll openly admit I cried at the end................but the film loses a star cuz I don't remember much about it and I have to stack the damn Old Yeller brand dog food at work and it's a bitch so yea it loses a star for that ha ha.
The Coates family: Jim (Fess Parker) & Katie (Dorothy McGuire) & their older son: Travis (Tommy Kirk) & a younger son: Arliss (Kevin Corcoran) are settlers in the territory of Texas near a settlement called Salt Licks which is in Abilene, Texas. Jim is away on a cattle drive when an "old yeller dog" visits the family uninvited when Travis shooed the dog away. Old Yeller's rightful owner Burn Sanderson (Chuck Connors) shows up looking for his dog ut comes to realize that the family needs the dog. Travis refuses the offer of a new puppy fathered by Old Yeller to adopts the puppy named him Young Yeller is given by Bud Searcy (Jeff York) & Lisbeth Searcy (Beverly Washburn).
A heart warming film about a boy who finds and adopts a dog and becomes very close with him, but when the dog gets Rabies, their friendship takes a turn for the worst. Always makes me cry.
