The only musical I really ever finished watching was West Side Story. So, I'm going to have to go with a big, giant NO on this one.
This is such a cool movie! I only watch it with my mom. She and I sing along with the actors/musicians.
I love this movie and watch it over and over again. I finally found it on DVD and bought it!!! YEAH!
a very textbook musical, if there is such a thing. lots of one-dimensional very happy people singing catchy, memorable songs in between clever but very campy humour and a thin plot leading to a happy ending. HOWEVER, the character and subsequent subplots involving Jud, as well as Steiger's portrayal, added a richer, somewhat darker texture to the otherwise happy-go-lucky landscape of the stage and screen musical. the dream ballet was also a refreshing change of pace, but it could have been a little shorter. a classic first outing for R&H and a revolution in musical theatre and film.
Did you know they filmed this movie twice? In both Cinemascope and Todd-AO. I didn't know this until we went to see a showing of this at the Rialto in Joliet and the movie I saw was not the one I was used to.
This board looks lonely. Be the first to talk about "Oklahoma!" !
