For a long time this was my favouret movie. It isnt any more (simply because i didnt used to watch alot of movies) but it's definatly still up there and is possibly (but definatly debatably) the greatest ever appearence Hugh Grant has made. However im sure die hard fans of four weddings and a funeral as well as Love actually amongst many others would disagree.

A sober story of a english man and an hollywood actress. They meet accidently, fall in love naturally, until misunderstanding wrecks the fun. And finally the triumph of love!! Awesome portrayal of all characters by the actors.
Surely won't dissapoint.

As what the movie poster for "Notting Hill" says, it's the best romantic comedy in years. Anna Scott is a world-famous movie actress whose face appears on every magazine cover. So when she meets the travel bookstore owner William Thacker while visiting Notting Hill (yes, that's a real neighborhood in London), romance follows. It's crazy that when the entertainment media gossip mentions the couple, the paparazzi, in one scene, photographs them. I also liked the movies (and their posters) that were featured within "Notting Hill"; they looked so movie-like to me! The bookstore owner/movie actress romance is definitely a nice plot for a movie like this. Four stars!
"Notting Hill" is directed by Roger Michell. The acting performances from its cast are very good; they spoke in such proper British accents. The Academy Award-winning Julia Roberts plays Anna Scott; her starlet character looks great in the featured movies within this movie. Hugh Grant plays bookstore owner William Thacker, while his roommate Spike is played by Rhys Ifans; they sometimes both act in comedic moments a bit. I was so surprised that, in only one scene, that a young Mischa Barton (of "The O.C." fame) played a child actress that Will interviewed! :-)
It would quite amazing that I would come across a famous actress and perhaps date her. But then I would have to deal with the whole entertainment world watching me.

they look like actors that would do another one, just like julia and richard gere.
