I loved this movie! Not only is Abigail a strong independant young lady in life, she brings it into her character in this movie. And I must say - I love fred!
It was a cute movie, and I loved the lizard Fred. I thought the performances of some of the actors (not including Jodie Foster) felt a little flat. The storyline was a little outrageous but it's to be expected in a kids' movie, I geuss. Overall, it was ok.
I saw this movie and couldn't believe it, it was cute and funny, loved Jodie in it. So use to her being stronge and independent. This was not like her at all but she was fab in it. Well worth the money.
Very predicatble, very un-realistic. This movie would be better suited for a younger audience, because they will get a kick out of all the animals and stuff. But if your older, it just falls flat.
for me there was no chemistry and besides Gerard theo thers suck big time in all the representations!!
Anything can happen on Nim's Island, a magical place ruled by a young girl's imagination. It is an existence that mirrors that of her favorite literary character, Alex Rover--the world's greatest adv...( read more )enturer. But Alexandra, the author of the Rover books, leads a reclusive life in the big city. When Nim's father goes missing from their island, a twist of fate brings her together with Alexandra. Now, they must draw courage from their fictional hero, Alex Rover, and find strength in one another to conquer Nim's Island.
This is a good movie was parents and there kids. A couple scenes were pointless and i think they gave Abrigal Breslin's charecter way too much strength in this movie for a 10 year old girl. An okay movie, just for kids though in my opinon.
I didn't watch this movie at the theaters because it seemed too cheesy and weird. I wasn't wrong, it is cheesy and odd, but it is actually better than I expected it to be. I loved the cast, Abigail Breslin, Jodie Foster and Gerard Butler worked out great together. The performances were believable and funny, specially Foster's. I loved how socially un-adapted she was, the whole Purrell thing was hillarious. Butler did not dissapointed me either, his double characterization was very good and he looked good doing it too, which gives this many plus points. And Breslin, oh can she be any more adorable? I loved them, the plot was nice also, but still, I just couldn't get myself to fall in love with the film as a whole.
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! It was a wondrous adventurous movie I have seen......=) Abigail Breslin I'm glad you took care of yourself in this movie, when your dad was away....and your animal friends were very helpful. =)
P.S. I really thought your sea lion was very cute.
This adventure story is fast-paced, pretty and generally good fun. Jodie Foster is deftly funny, and she carries the movie. Gerard Butler, too, is on good form. The weak spot is Abigail Breslin. She underplays to the point of being dull - upstaged by her sea lion pal and a CG lizard - and a flabby middle-section plot device about a cruise ship feels flat, leaving her filling time until Foster appears. But there are neat parallels between the three stories of these essentially lonely people, and the ending makes up for a lot.
Jodie Foster was wonderful as the borderline agoraphobic famous writer.Gerard Butler, my favorite actor, was OK as the dad, and good as Alex Rover. Beautiful scenery.
Good movie for kids, little cheesy, bit empty but OK.
Though I didn't like the "independence" that Nim showed at such a young age. This movie was, predictable, but very fun! I was excited about it and it turned out to be exactly what I expected. Jody Forster did a good job in her character.
hahaha. it was so dramatic and kinda a lil kids show. the actors werent that splendid. lil miss giggly pants was sitting right next to me in the theater. Soo in the really serious parts which were way over-dramatic we would just burst out laughing. haha fun fun Dee ;)
Peculiar casting. Jodi Foster doesn't seem fit for her role as Alexandra/Alex Rover-the OCD writer of Alex Rover Adventures. Meanwhile Abigail Breslin is fine; she's cute and charming you will believe her. And, Grard Butler from a buff Roman on 300 to a flabby Marine Zoobiologist. The story, I mean all children's story, is repetitive. They say you see one, you'ver seen them all. But I had to watch anyway he he he
