This movie was OK, not as good as I thought it would be. But still entertaining though, I would recommend you watch it and decide for yourself.

Much better than I expected. Well, pretty worth watching it, some parts are entertaining. Especially those animals and creatures. Sincerely they are cute! I like the lizard, haha!

Many line has a start, but didn't press it enough. Everything is as simple as you can see, a simple but enjoyable movie.

The story wasn't complete...what happens next. The scientist falls in love with the writer cause there is no other woman on the island. And the child is going to be so deprived of socialization. It did not keep the children's attention and wasn't completed enough for an adult story line.

I liked the idea of a little girl actually READING avdenture books...And anticipating the whole experience of it. For me that's key - Going back a little bit to finding pleasure in inhabiting the world of the impossible, the far-away, the bravery... through books. Overall I enjoyed the flavor of simple, old-fashion storytelling of this movie, coupled with nice, simple animation and special effects, inviting, forcing you to actually put your own imagination to work. I liked the performances, Jodie Foster had some fine comedic moments, a light-hearted tone suited her... But my favorite one was Gerard Butler's, loved his characters. Little Abigail Breslin of course is a beautiful little actress, but I liked her more in... Little Miss Sunshine.

A cute story with a strong female character in the lead (Abigail) and a weak woman who finds her own strength to overcome her own fears/doubts about life and herself (Jodie). With unbelievable animal co-stars, the treehouse/hut of dreams and a sense of whimsy, neurosy and a bit of danger this is a perfect movie for kids or kids at heart.

When her scientist father goes missing, a young girl seeks help from the author of her favorite adventure books. Charmless adventure film may please young children, but for adults it is a demanding exercise in endurance. The story (by 4 screenwriters, no less!) feels as if it was assembled in a factory and is plagued with dull dialogue and embarrassing slapstick. The characters in a Johnny Quest cartoon have more depth that what we are presented with here. The South Pacific island locations are pretty, however.

I loved the animals and some of the animation crossovers were good. The deleted scenes on the DVD i think should have all been left in as it was missing that scale of her imagination and someone who knew alex enough to see the scale of her trip. The trailer its sad to say has most of the best clips in it. Even sexy gerard was justgood not brilliant. a good family film and great for kids with good imagination or that age when they are starting to really use their own. Older kids will get the sense of yes there is real life but that doesn't mean that you have to leave magic and imagination with your childhood - carry it with you your whole life.

I thought I was gonna pull my hair out in the beginning. There is such a thing as TOO much internal monologue.

I have heard this movie described as Indiana Jones for girls. I would just like to say 'No Way!'. After saying that I feel better. It was not a bad movie, just a little too kid friendly with a sappy, happy ending. Gerard Butler was in it and that is all the encouragement I needed to watch it.

Not as good as expected. I still liked it ok but even though it was a kids story I still felt like the plot and character development was lacking. Great nature and animals though, I'd still recomend just for the island. :D

As children's live action films go this was a good one. Very good message to girls (as well as boys) concerning both the attributes of independence and bravery as well as the importance of good parents and adults in their lives. Perhaps not enough for adults, but this was written for children - and it's a charming & entertaining. (Gerald Butler in ANYthing is enough to hold my attention) Abagail Breslin was lovely & Jodie Foster as the agraphobic neurotic reluctant hero was amusing, and taught that we can always reach beyond what we think we are capable of.

A charming flick that has a talented cast, some decent visual effects, cute critters and gorgeous scenery. Jodie Foster delivers a delightfully neurotic performance.

This was a sort of silly plotline that reminded me that "true love" stories and "happily ever after" stories just aren't very realistic.

It was a cute movie to watch, and even a little bit FUN to see and laugh here and there, but I doubt I will ever watch this one again. I wonder if the young kids who I think this was aimed towards entertaining - will be able to understand enough of it to find it enjoyable. It seemed to me like the "serious" parts of the movie would be a bit too complex to hold a kid's interest.

NOT at all what I expected. I was pretty disappointed. But this is one the whole family can watch. I am sure my tastes demand more action than this one has to offer and that is why I was not so entertained. Not my cup of tea...
