One of the first modern horror movies and the birth of the "classic" zombie. This movie may have lost a little with the passage of time but it can not be denied that it was groundbreaking and launched a thousand copies. Also has one of the best and shocking endings of all time.
One of the greatest and most influential horror movies ever made. It is a personal favorite from the horror genre. It was gory for the time, but never seems distasteful. The best part of the movie is the lingering and building sense of dread and danger that carries throughout. The movie carries social commentaries as well, strong but never overdone. The ending is great as well as extremely bleak.
Black and white was what made this movie so great. It is still; one of the best of the walking dead movies.
birth of the modern zombie film. i had recurring nightmares for years after first seeing this! :O a landmark that transcends it's genre
This is how horror is done--fast and nasty. I finally got to see Night of the Living Dead on a big screen last night and I noticed a few things here and there I never noticed before. And I've seen this movie a good 75 times since I got it as a present for my 10th birthday. Still as amazing as it was the first time I saw it in all its low budget glory. Admittedly, this movie has it's flaws but it's so damn creepy that you can't bring yourself to truly care. The granddaddy of all zombie movies.
It is such an awesome but horrible movie, well I guess for it being one of the earlier zombie movies, and after seeing the remake of dawn of the dead first i guess my expectations were a little high. As well, I was watching it on Gaiaonline.com, and there was a GIANT yellow smiley face that showed up on the screen most of the way through the movie, it onlyh flashed there, there, but I was like, WTF?
