MCT:August 13, 2008I must admit that a great movie always comes with a great pleasure..
i didnt really know anything about this movie till i saw it on a local shop, so i bought it as it only has Queen Latifah, her movies never fail to me and also it didnt with this but only this time Diane was the main star and also the STAR OF THE MOVIE with her one of her best performances.
Queen and Katie were good too, i love Katie's role, it will just make you smile..
A Great movie.. -
MCT:August 12, 2008I believe this was supposed to be a comedy but there were no laugh out loud moments. Just a few light chuckles. Why do I say that? Well, had the movie not taken itself so seriously and been a goofy romp (which might've worked better) instead of an unbelievable heist movie, we would accept the way-too-perfect ending. You might have to watch "Set it off" to get the bad taste out of your mouth, but you could do a lot worse.

This is a really great movie, I only watched it because it has three of my favourite ladies in it. And it turned out to be a really exciting edge of your seat movie, and I would definately recommend you watch it.

This weird send-up is 'Inside Man' and 'Ocean's 11' meets 'Wild Hogs.' It had its moments, and the cast did marginally well, but the screenplay had to have been dug up from some production company's back closet. If you can endure it long enough, the caper twist is rewarding, but their are better, funner movies that accomplish the same thing.

MCT:August 5, 2008No comedy, no drama, no thrills, no real danger, and no romance creates no film worth watching. I wish they could have afforded Carrie Fisher to doctor this screenplay and imbue it with a glint of genuine greed or true wit or anything that would have made this film any more watchable.

MCT:August 3, 2008With a very heavy heart, I removed Diane Keaton from my favorite actors list about six months ago. It's been a long time, after all, since the glory days of Annie Hall and Looking for Mr. Goodbar. After suffering through Mad Money, my heart is a little lighter, my decision to drop her even more justifiably confirmed, although I'm definitely saddened by the way her career has gone.
Based on a true story . . . I live in hope that criminals like these will actually serve hard time in the near future. Atrocious acting and a stupid storyline -- true or not -- with a very hard ending to take, especially if you believe in things like the law.
Why did I add this to my queue? For sure it was not because Katie Holmes, Queen Latifah, or Ted Danson tempted me to watch it. I guess I hadn't given up all hope for Keaton. But now I have.

this was a kind of funny movie but also I was very happy to katie holmes as the ditzy girl in the film but I also loved the fact that she seemed to have a very happy go lucky character in this movie which I would have thought she would have been very grumpy as she seems to be in her life at this time but that is just my opinion !

Bridget Cardigan (Diane Keaton) is shocked to learn that she is on the verge of losing her home and comfortable upper middle class lifestyle when her husband Don (Ted Danson) is downsized from his job of 30 years. Don has been looking for a job for a whole year with no luck. Armed only with a decades old English Lit degree and years as a dedicated mother and corporate wife, Bridget is forced into the unfamiliar labor market with no job skills. Finally, she takes the only position she can find as a janitor at the Federal Reserve Bank in Kansas City.
The one-time suburban mom soon discovers she has more in common with her new co-workers than she thought. Bridget forges an unexpected bond with Nina (Queen Latifah), a hard-working single mom with two kids to raise who shreds old money all day, and Jackie (Katie Holmes), an exuberant free spirit with nothing to lose who moves the old money cart. Every day the bank shreds over a million dollars. Caught up in a system that underestimates their talents and keeps their dreams just out of reach, Bridget, Nina and Jackie set out to even the score.
After a lifetime of playing by the rules, the three join forces and devise a plan to smuggle soon-to-be destroyed currency out of the supposedly airtight Federal Reserve. As the unlikely crime syndicate amasses piles of cash, it looks like they have pulled off the perfect crime until a minor misstep alerts the authorities. With more money than they know what to do with, the women are pushed to the limits of their ingenuity to stay one step ahead of the law! -

Mad Money is a different take on the caper film, replacing the male protagonists with clever women and focusing on the aftermath of the heist rather than the preparation and particulars of the robbery. The success of their plan is not reliant on high-tech gadgets, but rather commonsense and resourcefulness. Although the comedy that ensues from the blending of these different personalities may not stand up to that of Ocean?s 11, it is nonetheless entertaining.
This film definitely benefits from good casting, as Keaton, Latifah and Holmes mesh believably while representing each of their characters perfectly...
Not surprisingly, the film could never have been made if it was at all realistic (much like the Ocean?s movies) but it is based on a true story, originally filmed as Hot Money in Britain...

Really enjoyable movie.. of course, is common on its type, and kind of predictible. But is a guarantee to have a great time.

there was a tv series in england exactly the same as this story ! the series was stubstancially better then the this film which is sloppy and overrated ! check out the itv series featuring caroline quintin so much better !
