Plot: Lambada has its heart in the 1950s and the rest of its anatomy in the 1980s. It's a Jerry Bruckheimer production, like Flashdance, in all but name. Kevin, a.k.a. "Blade" (J. Eddie Peck),...( read more read more... ) is a math teacher by day, dancer/G.E.D. instructor by night. Sandy (Melora Hardin) is the kind of student Sting warned about in "Don't Stand So Close to Me." There's his dangly earring and her hair gel. There's her lunkhead boyfriend, who looks like Top Secret!-era Val Kilmer, and Blade's lambada nemesis, Ramon. And, oh yeah, Blade is Latino. Sound familiar? It is. Lambada is cheesy as all get out and doesn't have an original idea in its body. It's also a sure-to-be-guilty pleasure for fans of Footloose and other 1980s flicks with big beats and misunderstood heroes. It isn't as good, but it's still a hoot. And there's lots of steamy Lambada dancing in the nightclub scenes. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

    This is horrible...really really bad...
However, admit it!...sometimes you want a really bad movie...look no further.
It does not contain the (joke) intoxicating, hypnotic tune of Kaoma's "Llorando se fue" (/end of joke) but it gives you Melora Hardin (The Office woman) at her 80's sexiest attempting to do sensual dancing and Shabba-Doo!!!! without a mustache.

Now, aside those two items...a Capt. Lou Albano-lookin'-motherf'er wears a t-shirt that reads "Moustache Rides 5 cents"...Now that's classic.

At one moment I heard the fantastic and thrilling Shabba-Do say 'it's the 90's"...I don't think so...unless the movie was aiming to be a time travel to the future. Keep in mind that this is not the popular Lambada sound (yikes!) and its just a bad (very bad) cross between Stand and Deliver (you'll see why) and an awful musical with lots of synths and 80's pads...

Enjoy with someone you like to share the laughter and I recommend a couple of caipirinhas before hand. To my brazilian and latin friends in general....AVOID

2 stars because of Shabba-Doo! and realizing that Melora Hardin is actually better looking older

There's something incredibly disturbing about Melora Hardin doing the dirty dancing.. Were this two separate films pieced together at editing?

Guilty pleasure. Really bad movie that you can't help but watch! And when you realize the girl is Jan from The Office, it only makes it better!
