definitely one of the best movies of 2008, and one of the best marvel movies made i think...
    I really really recommend this.

    IMDb info:
Tony Stark is the complete playboy who also happens to be an engineering genius. While in Afghanistan demonstrating a new missile he's captured and wounded. His captors want him to assemble a missile for them but instead he creates an armored suit and a means to prevent his death from the shrapnel left in his chest by the attack. He uses the armored suit to escape. Back in the U.S. he announces his company will cease making weapons and he begins work on an updated armored suit only to find that Obadiah Stane, his second in command at Stark industries has been selling Stark weapons to the insurgents. He uses his new suit to return to Afghanistan to destroy the arms and then to stop Stane from misusing his research.

Second best movie I've seen all year (Behind "The Dark Knight"). Robert Downey, Jr is incredible as Tony Stark. Great story line and plot. Glad I got to see it in the theater.

the movie that saved robert downey junior's career. before this, he was doing drugs left and right, and probably would have been left to rot in the annals of hollywood's skid row. now thanks to this movie, he's got film offers and a new lease on life since going clean. wonderful job on his part (and rd jr got gorgeous too-i dont remember him ever looking so nice till now)

my 1 complaint was about the soundtrack. only too bad the famous song 'iron man' wasnt incorporated into this film all that much :(

IRON MAN's perfect blend of wit, humor, romance and stylized action makes it one of the finest of super hero films.

An awesome, come-back performance by Robert Downey, Jr. Great acting and a terrific story!!! One of the best comic book adaptations by far.

This movie is terrible. It has one of the worst stories ever. I am really disappointed from Jeff Bridges ( Lebowski) and Gwyneth Paltrow how can they play in those movies.

Best Superhero movie ever made. Sorry, Dark Knight is NOT better than this film, unless you like dark, depressing, overwrought plots.

This movie was pretty good, but not as good as what I thought it would be. I thought it would be more about saving the world, well it was, but I mean more like Superman or Spiderman. I was slightly dissappointed.

If you want to see how a summer blockbuster should be, just watch "Iron Man". With its flawed superhero, its intelligent and sympathetic female lead and its cool special effects, this film equals to one word: FUN. Robert Downey Jr. has always been an amazing actor in spite of his personal issues, this is one of the reasons why he is such a perfect choice to play the arrogant but good Tony Stark, and he is the main reason why this film is so good. Gwyneth Paltrow works perfectly as the awkward but brilliant and loyal Pepper Potts. Jon Favreau does a wonderful job directing this flick. From the opening scene to the ending, the film is almost excellent. Why almost? Jeff Bridges. Bridges is a wonderful actor, but when it comes to the fight scene, it just doesn't quite work. This is not because he's not believable -he is - it's just that the scenes are not just as strong as the other ones.

But well, as stated before: Want fun? Go watch "Iron Man".

robert downey jr gives an amazing performance as tony stark, a high-profile explosives engineer who behaves more like a rockstar than a professional business man. after escaping an ugly encounter with some thug terrorists, tony reconstructs the home-made device which got him out of his last, but not final, predicament: a very, very high tech suit enabling him to, among other things, crush people with his bare hands, shoot bullets from his knuckles, and fly alongside fighter jets. thus ironman is born.
in the end, of course there is the enormus battle between the ingenious tony and his former-friend-now-foe who has copied and updated tony's ironman invention. throughout there are exciting minor battles and of course the very sweet, and awwww-producing relationship between tony and his secretary, pepper potts (gwyneth paltrow). in short, a full out fun movie that has every major (and minor) component that a great action movie needs. an added bonus: it's kid friendly :) so to you protective parents out there, no worries :)
i loved the story line, awesome special effects and several funny moments, but what really stole the show for me was robert downey jr's performance. watching him over the years, he is incredibly versatile and talented. think he'll be nominated for something? he sure as hell deserves the recognition!
gwyneth paltrow did a good job too, though it was a bit strange seeing her in an action-superhero movie! still, it was very fun to see her play pepper.

The film is a joyride, a shining example of great summer popcorn fare. The cast is fantastic, and their enthusiasm for the project translates to the spirit of the adventure onscreen. Because the characters seem to have greater depth and complexity than the story explores, the film gives the impression of having only scratched the surface (warranting much anticipation for a sequel), but that is not necessarily a bad thing. The film is nimble and quick but too smart, too classy and too much fun to be called "lightweight." It is equally entertaining and convincing, and it feels more like a great comic book come to life than any superhero film in recent memory. I eagerly await part 2.

This is what a super hero movie should be. There was great acting, great writing, great effects, and an ending that left you wanting more.
I'm already in line for 2010.

The cast is great, the performances are excellent, the pacing is very quick and the writing is great. Also, the effects are mind-blowing, and close to the original source material, offering proof that Jon Favreau actually gave a **** about Iron Man's pre-existing comic book fanbase.
The movie was very satisfying. The screenplay, special effects, and acting were all very good, but I was very underwhelmed with the ending. Don't get me wrong, it was good. But I thought that the arch nemesis of Iron Man should've gone out with a bigger bang than he did. But maybe it was better than I think, and it just didn't live up to the month-long hype that it has been building on before I finally saw it. But that ending quote was definitely amazing! IMO, The Incredible Hulk over Iron Man.

It seems kind of odd that the female-rating thing is 3.5, and the male one is 4, while the total is 4.5...
That is rather curious, I think.
