''Are you trying to develop a sense of humor or am I going deaf?''
After arriving in India after escaping mayhem in Japan, Indiana Jones is asked by a desperate village to find a mystical stone. He agrees, and stumbles upon a secret cult plotting a terrible plan in the catacombs of an ancient palace.
Harrison Ford: Indiana Jones, obviously the main protagonist hero.
Kate Capshaw: Wilhelmina 'Willie' Scott, the love interest and wife of Spielberg in real life i believe.
Jonathan Ke Quan: Short Round (as Ke Huy Quan) Hilarious as Jone's little sidekick. Comic relief.
The darkest and most graphic of the three films.
As usual the beginning starts of beautifully and to an extent musically. A iconic reference to Humphrey Bogart in Doctor Jones attire AKA the white tuxedo donning the crimson rose. Also amused at the clubs name Obi-Wan a clever little joke towards Star Wars. George Lucas doing the Story may have something to do with that.
The scenes in India are of a grand scale and covey a rich quality, again the music by John Williams is spot on. Some very good action scenes yet this one does have some that maybe watching again are slightly over the top yet the enjoyment again makes up for it. A brilliant showdown on a bridge that is tense and thrilling. Some scary traps and dark ritualistic goings on and a mysterious evil cult.
In places maybe due to the location it feels tacky and the plot maybe is more cartooned than the previous film.
When i first saw this it was a fun amazing ride, on seeing again and writing my review from a criticizing stance it's still above average, despite some flaws but still always an enjoyment to watch.
this movie is really not very good. i was - and still am - shocked that this came after Raiders. Raiders was a veritable masterpiece compared to this trite, overblown (but somehow underwhelming) bit of run-of-the-mill action pablum. the female lead was tedious, and the romantic chemistry was frail. i've always thought harrison ford wasn't much with the "acting", and this was not reprobation of that smug conclusion. the dinner scene was awesome, though. "baby snakes and monkey brains" was my nickname in junior college. and people put this on par with Last Crusade. for shame!
A much darker affair than the other Indiana Jones films, The Temple of Doom is heralded as a weak point in the trilogy - but there are never facts enough to point this out. If anything, this film has a far better pacing and rythm than the other films (that tend to feel stilted at points) and allows for action and chase scenes to take new meaning. The insightfulness and sheer wit of Raider of the Lost Ark is lost in this piece, however, through this film we are given a new perspective on our hero; we learn that he is truly a world round explorer and we learn of his ability and need for help at times. Lucas did a great job in giving us these aspects in a story that, while feeling much more brooding than it's predecessor, gives us a sense of wanted maturity and, of course, some exhilerating trademark action sequences (particularly the escape). And let's not forget Spielberg, who continues his trend of long take editing in even the most frantic of scenes, an approach that filmmakers of today sorely neglect. In the end, The Temple of Doom is a very nicely made film that, while still clearly not as good as Raider of the Lost Ark, still manages to stand firmly on two feet.
The worst of the Indiana Jones movies. This is a good movie, visually pleasing, but not as satisfying as the other two in the trillogy.
this movie has a lot of action and adventure and some moments of comedy too, its is a good story and the cast was good also, specially Harrison Ford
I love the character Short Round, he is so cute. Why cant he be in all the other Indiana movies aswell!!
This movie was great like all the others.. i liked how it showed that not all his adventures were fun and games. Also i would like to note that this is a PREQUEL to raiders, not a sequel.
classic sequal it's much darker which is great and funny at the same time
*shudder* this movie was REALLY CREEPY at times, but otherwise it was really good. i liked it a lot.
i donīt think that the temple of doom is the weakest of the series.is more intense and entertaining like raiders.
this is a classic action/adventure movie you have to see it!!!
