Being a fan of Indiana Jones, I was very excited to be watching the newest addition in the illustrious legacy of the Indiana Jones series, and as I sat down, I prepared myself to be amazed. The movie started and the familiar Indiana Jones theme song began blaring though the room (with me quietly humming the tune), the memories of the previous adventures flooded through my mind. This is it!! After almost 20 years, Indy is back for what would most likely be his last great adventure? Harrison Ford has reprised his role as the main man Indy, complete with signature whip and hat, he is joined by some recognizable characters from previous installments and some new ones in the form of Hollywood wizz kid Shia Lebeouf. In this episode Indy is in search of the infamous crystal skulls in the city of Eldorado while fighting off evil Soviets... classic Indy stuff. As I sat there watching the movie, I waited for the classic Indy moments that made the previous series part of pop culture and imprinted it forever in the annals of movie history, but it never came, the movie was, by gosh, ordinary? everyone was doing what they had to (and Ive got to give it to Ford for still being able to run around like that as his age) but yet the movie lacked that old flame. Everyone (but I have to note that Blanchett did an excellent job as the villain) felt like they were going through the process, like ticking off a shopping list; witty comments, check. Exhilarating car chases, check. Ex-Lovers reunion, check. Extreme gunfights, check. And of course the elusive ancient artifact, check. So in summary the movie was good and they did some excellent work on the special effects and graphics but they still failed on the story/plot (Freaking Aliens???? WTF??? This aint X-Files) and the script which didn?t capture the feel of the long line of previous (sucessfulI) Indiana Jones Movies. It a good watch and an entertaining movie, but I found it to be lacking in living up to the Indiana Jones name.
Indiana Jones is 64 years old, and his latest adventure is accordingly less sharp, gritty, and energetic than those of his relative youth. The film would have done better to replace most of the digital effects with good old-fashioned wit and ingenuity, but all the trademark elements are in place, and they earn the film a spot alongside the other classic installments.
Crystal Skull is not as good as the ones we have seen long time ago, it just need more stuff to give you the indy feelings..
Harrison Ford is still as good though..
Well, i didnt really understand the film very well but to judge more, am going to watch it one more time.. just to give it another go..
maybe i wasnt really in a mood for it or something..
I was very pleasently suprised by The Crystal Skull it follows on from the first three perfectly and manages to keep the same tone which many sequals lack when made years later. The same buddy movie styling is sed here and the addition of Shia LeBeouf makes the as enjoyable in the familyy stakes as The Last Crusade. The ending felt weird but not too wierd to be out of place.
This movie is so funny I felt like I was watchin' the original Indiana Jones!!!! I would recommend everyone to watch it!! No matter what anyone says... just watch it!!!!
Fans of Indiana Jones need only apply. This movie was a great summer ride and I'm glad I saw it in theaters. However I don't think I'll be buying it on Blu-Ray when it releases because while it was entertaining, it was one of those "I've seen it once, that's enough" kind of films for me. The plot is what seems to get so many people angry at the film but I thought it was decent, not great but decent. And yes several of the action scenes were over the top but that didn't damper on the fun I had seeing Indy in action again.
Not being a huge Indiana Jones fan, I wasn't expecting much from this movie. Unfortunately this filc tried far too hard to be like its predecessors (with the cliché soviet baddies and more) but just didn't live up to the level of entertainment the old films provided.
Not what you expect. Indiana is a Wild-West series. This new film is more of a Sci-Fi film versus a Wild-West one.
Not as good as the others in the original trilogy, bering in mind this one was meant to be about martians.. NOT INTERDIMENTIONAL BEINGS ¬¬ BAH HUMBUG should have stayed as a trilogy
Action packed but the story is not as good as the third installment, the Last Crusade. But think this movie is telling us that Harrison Ford is saying goodbye as Indiana Jones and his son, Henry Jones the third portrayed here by Lebeuff will take over. Who will be the next Indiana Jones?
ba vojude inke Harrisson Ford az film haye ghablish ye kam javuntar shode, hame chiz dar in film kohne be nazar miad. keifyatesh kheily paintar az indy haye digast
Remarkably true to the feel of the original 3. If you're looking for something new, look elsewhere. This is the same Indiana it's always been and I still love it!
I left the cinema in, I suppose, relief. This wasen't the disappointment I was expecting and dreading. Except, I get a film which I think is the second best sequel of the Indiana Jones series, better than Temple of Doom, not as good as Last Crusade. This film was just great entertainment from start to finish. Even in Indy terms, the beginning is pulse-pounding and quick. You get a nice introduction ot the 50's setting with a drag race, and then we're in the thick of the action. Speilberg still has quite a knack for action, and the opening really shows this. We then get a quick breather at Marshall college as usual, but this time we have Jim Broadbent as a kind of Marcus Brody character. BUt after a few minuted the action gets high rolling again when Shia LaBeouf enters. There is a great motorcycle chase, which is one of the best parts of the film. The search starts from there for the crystal skull and the kingdom of gold, El Darado (which is where the skull needs to be returned). Indy solves clues, dust markings and all the good old fashioned stuff, still getting giddy like a school boy. You just get a buzz watching Harrison Ford going around wit the jacket and the whip and, most defiantly the hat! We also get one hell of a car chase in the jungle, it is great fun to watch, boarding the lines of believability but you can forgive that because it is just so fun! Now I get on to the bad point of the story, the silly climax. The alien subplot was pushing it but in the climax it really does o over the limit. I'd imagine it was George Lucas' doing with the alien storyline. (Spoilers ahead)
The Indy films have always had a sense of the supernatural, but never Sci-Fi. I coped with the alien stuff at the beginning but the ending did push it too far. First an alien comes to life, which is the ultimate limit for me, but then they have a spaceship. That was too far, and put a damper on affairs, but the rest of the moie makes up for it. Right at the end we have a nice little wedding which was abit cheesy but it did give a warm nostalgia feeling seeing Indy and Marion tying the knot. I liked the little hint for more films at the end, when Mutt is about to put the hat on and then Indy nicks it off him. I took that as a metaphor saying that Mutt may one day take over, but Indy isn't out he game yet. Harrison Ford does look older, he's a bit more wiser (abit more like Sean Connery), but he fits back into Indy with ease. He can still crack a whip like an expert and he just oozes pure Indy-ness. The times may have changed but Indy hasen't and it is so relieving to see that he is still the same old Indy. Shia LaBoeuf was great once again. He has a great relationship with Ford that it shines on screen. Even before you know they're father and son, they still have same relationship that Indy had with his Dad in Last Crusade. Cate Blanchett is not the best villian ever but she is still on good form, just not as memorable as the likes of Paul Freeman as Belloq. It is so great to see Karen Allen back as Marion, I just love that sense of nostalgia when you see her and Ford back on the screen together. Some characters are left in the dark, such as Jim Broadbent, John Hurt as Oxley and Ray Winstone as Mac. They all do good jobs with their roles its just they don't have as much to do as the rest of the characters. Wether or not there will be another one coming out in the future I don't know. But this is Indy back in ction, showing the copycats how its really done. If it weren't for the aliens and daft climax, but Spielberg knows how to handle an action adventure for the audience, and it delievers!
A really bad job but we named you after the dog, Indy. Love IJ flicks but man, this wasn't as fun as it built up to be.
Lets face it Harrison Ford is getting old, and he just cant pull this character off any more. To see a man of his age swinging on a whip, dodging nucluar fall out, and discovering anciet artifacts that lead of aliens??? I would say it was a decent story, but please can we move onto someone who doesnt look like death warmed over? I thought the plot was weak, but there was some good humor. Would I recommend it? Only to rent but wait til its not a new release rental. Wait til its at its cheapest level before engaging this movie.
It could have been a little more 'meatier'. It touched on some subjucts and just blew by onto another segment of a stretched out story. Good try though.
Disgusting. Indy movies were quite good at the beginning, now they're just boring ad even less plausible. The plot is very very feeble and the acting not good at all, esp Shia LaBeouf: he looks more like Danny Zuko than Marlon Brando!!
It fits into The Indie films well, and keeps up the tradition and style brilliantly. Loses a sense of purpose or relity in the last half hour thought, and the ending scene is a blatant set up for the next genertaion of marketing and films. Good, and worth seeing, but no major new wows. Just like watching one of the other Indie films really..no better, no worse.

But, as Indy and Mutt set out for the most remote corners of Peru--a land of ancient tombs, forgotten explorers and a rumored city of gold--they quickly realize they are not alone in their search. Soviet agents are also hot on the trail of the Crystal Skull. Chief among them is icy cold, devastatingly beautiful Irina Spalko, whose elite military unit is scouring the globe for the eerie Crystal Skull, which they believe can help the Soviets dominate the world--if they can unlock its secrets. Indy and Mutt must find a way to evade the ruthless Soviets, follow an impenetrable trail of mystery, grapple with enemies and friends of questionable motives, and, above all, stop the powerful Crystal Skull from falling into the deadliest of hands.
it brought a lot of charactors back and i lookforward to what Harrison ford does next and what will happen in this series
It was such exciting movie. Harrison Ford risks his precious life to save the lost and hidden CRYSTAL SKULL from the bad guys.

haha i thought it was entertaining, acting/ characters was good, strong special efects etc
Excellent job!
Now this is the movie that all the fans of Indy were waiting for, man.I loved it.I WANT MORE!!!
Fun, enterteining, genuinely amusing. Harrison Ford's very good interpretation, perfect in Indy's role. I do not believe that it could demand him more to this movie.
The movie is just like a pile of tard that has been lying around as old as Ford himself. What a lame and pathetic excuse for a movie. The garbage of filth coming from Spielberg and Lucas is such a shame. If you want to waste your money then go and see it. Cate Blanchett is a fine actress, probably one of the best, but in this she disgraced herself. Why even bother taking a role like this? Ford is too old to play Indy. At least, when Sly made Rocky Balboa and Rambo, he looked good and both movies were millions of miles better than this excuse. Just like Emmerich disappointed with 10,000 BC, Spielberg and Lucas go a mile further. I mean, come on, was Spielberg trying to make ET 2????? loooooooooool
Gee, I guess if a movie is part of a series then I should rate it higher because of this? ROFLMAO!
As far as Star Wars ep. 1-3.
I was referring to the gratuitous overuse of CGI in place of writing, dialog, story and character development that Lucas is now famous(or infamous)for.
Interesting use of the term "tight-wad", made absolutely no sense in that sentence.
So you're saying that some movie critics are stingy people when it comes to their reviews?
Of course this would mean that they create reviews and don't let anybody else read or view them.
*scratches head*
Either that or you don't know the proper use this term (along with not knowing what it truly means) or for some strange reason you believe that these so called movie critics are in fact misers.
Classic!
Another person proving my point.
Keep 'em comin'!
