David Fincher's "Fight Club" is truly one for the ages. It's one hell of a psychological thriller and also a brilliant work of pop-culture satire. Both this film and Chuck Palahniuk's bold source novel tap into the same sociological angst that coats Kubrick's "Clockwork Orange"(1971) and David Cronenberg's "Crash"(1996 - not to be confused with the academy award winner of the same name from 2005). Its operatic fight scenes are already cinema landmarks, like those exhibited in Martin Scorsese's "Raging Bull"(1980) - but Fincher amplifies the stylistic brutality of those scenes to an even more disturbing degree here and injects them with a borderline pornographic level of body-horror and sexuality. It really has to be seen to be believed. In my book, this film has already gone down as one of the quintessential examples of new-millennium filmmaking (alongside "The Matrix", "Run-Lola-Run", and "Three Kings") for all of its dazzling aesthetic elements.

so much is good about this movie.

The conceit: almost every male on earth can empathise with frustration over society and the relief of it through wanton violence. as well as the power of anonymity in general society. quite brilliant

The characters: I really love the interplay between Jack(Ed Norton) & Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt) and how they're changed by fight club and how fight club changes others.

The Plot: the narration by Edward Norton framing the entirety at first than slowly leaving out to let the story motivate itself until he simply makes snide comments fitting the situation. I also loved some of the uses of irony (we were selling rich women their fat asses back to them) that frame some plot features

The twist: I'm not gonna say what the twist is but i loved and didn't see it coming and it changes the entire context of the film

I loved it, you should watch it!

such an amazing movie. i was just speechless when it was over! so bizarre yet you understand every vague idea they try to get across to you
although i predicted the movie's twist long before it was revealed, that didn't make it any less mind boggling.
this is ONE OF THE best films out there. highly reccomendded if you haven't yet seen it.

gtfo of here, this movie is such a mindfuck, but THAT'S what's so fucking cool about it, and the fact that the original story utilizes real world knowledge in the methods employed in the movie BASICALLY gives it street cred. Great movie, don't miss your chance to see it.

.....Ok, so how about you just take a fucking good look around you and realize how locked up you are by all society's dirty means of making you "a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy"... So...how does that feel? Not good? Great. Get your fucking ass up from that expensive sofa and go to the nearest drug store to buy some gallons of gasoline. Important - do not lock the door on your way out. Come back and without second thoughts, burn your place to the ground. Do you ear that screaming? Its not you. Not your neighbours. Surely not your house. Its society's bitch screaming about just loosing one of its puppets. Feel liberated? You should. Feel enlightened? Not yet. Trample over the remains of your belongings, for its time to empower your shattered Self for a greater cause. You. Remember...? You are no longer just one among the many. You are one above all. You know the poison's ways of infiltration so it will be easy to get immune. There is nothing more they can take from you, for you have reached total detachment...also a blood soaked shirt. Your blood, and the blood of the fellow next. Do not talk about it. Information is over ratted and will easily mislead you. You are ready to cleanse society with its own filth. Enlightened now? You should. You are officially reborn. The greatest of mental orgasms. If not, return to your fucking mind trapping concrete crib, and wither in auto-mode. Do you have the guts to run against the strongest of winds? Probably not.

Different than what I expected, but I totally enjoyed it. I can definitely understand why some people think it's overrated, though. It doesn't really have too much of a point or a message--besides demonstrating mental illness in the form of multiple personality disorder and its obvious complaint that consumerism makes slaves of us, causing deep anger to form within us. But it's not so much communist as it is anarchist. Tyler Durden's (Brad Pitt) theory is that the world is infinitely better off if people go back to their primitive, simplistic natures. That is, to live basically like Tarzan; unruled, wild, carefree, and "enlightened".

However, other than that, it is (as a friend of mine puts it) "a movie where people beat each other up all the time for no reason." In conclusion, it is a strange movie that people either appreciate its somewhat twisted humor, presentation, and philosophy or find it pointless, violent, and unlikeable.

"It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything."

    Directed by : David Fincher

    Casts : Brad Pitt,Edward Norton,Helena Bonham Carter,Meatloaf,Jared Leto

DAVID FINCHER AT HIS VERY BEST,AN ELECTRIFYING CULT !

Oh my GOD,a total madness.Fight Club is the highest level of achievement for a single movie to archieve, even words cannot describe the power of electricity that sting me while watching this movie.Fight Club is no doubt,a masterpiece,a cult classic, and one the best movie ever made.

    Why?

    First.

Fight Club contains a heavy satire in a form of social commentary, commenting a lot of thing we're going through in this life."We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war?our Great Depression is our lives."
Fight Club also breaks a lot of social barriers and stand up as it's own,as A bold and hypnotizing movie. As seen as in this line,

You're not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your fucking khakis. We are the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world.

    "Tyler Durden"

    SEE?

    Second.

Edward Norton as the narrator, narrates us through the movie,a distinctive yet skillful performance.Absolutely the best performance by an actor in a long time.
While,Brad Pitt as Tyler Durden,by far the most influential character ever made, and the strongest performance by Brad Pitt in his entire career.Tyler Durden is madly took my attention from the very second he appeared in my screen, because the charisma that Brad Pitt gave into the character,a character that consolidate him as a serious actor,a termendous job from Brad Pitt.

And third,we can't forget the rests of the cast,Helena Bonham Carter,as the eccentric Marla Singer, also Meat Loaf, and Jared Leto, are equally breathtaking and no less disturbing. And David Fincher, for his brilliant directing, and thanks to him,for brought this brilliant piece of revolution to this earth, which rocks extremely hard.

So,prepare your seat and fasten your seat belt, and enjoy the 2 hours that maybe your most surreal "orgasm" you may have with a movie! At least, that's what i feel throughout the movie,"a cinematic orgasm",haha.

    Remember!

    Rules of Fight Club:

1.You do not talk about Fight Club.

2.The second rule of Fight Club is: you do not talk about Fight Club.

3.Someone yells 'stop', goes limp, taps out, the fight is over.

4.Only two guys to a fight.

5.One fight at a time, fellas.

    6.No shirts, no shoes.

7.Fights will go on as long as they have to.
8.If this is your first night at Fight Club, you have to fight.

Chuck, the author of the book, wrote one hell of a story. Sporadic, crazy, off the deep end, and the most existentialism I've seen packed into one movie thus far. Totally wicked. Love it for its uniqueness.

You are not your job. You are not how much you have in the bank. You are not the contents of your wallet. You are not your khakis. You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake. What happens first is you can't sleep. What happens then is there's a gun in your mouth. And what happens next is you meet Tyler Durden. Let me tell you about Tyler. He had a plan. In Tyler we trusted. Tyler says the things you own, end up owning you. It's only after you've lost everything that you're free to do anything. Fight Club represents that kind of freedom. First rule of Fight Club: You do not talk about Fight Club. Second rule of Fight Club: You do not talk about Fight Club. Tyler says self-improvement is masturbation. Tyler says self-destruction might be the answer.*

Fight Club Follows A Nameless Insomniac And A Soap Salesman Who Find Their Releases From The Prison of Reality Through An Underground Cult Known As Fight Club. This Bizzare Cult Later Becomes An Anarchist Group. Fight Club Is A Classic Film From Director David Fincher, One of The Greatest FilmMakers In Cinematic History. Edward Norton Is Beyond Incredible, Like Always. I Have Never Seen A Bad Performance From Him. Brad Pitt Is Phenomenal, Possibly In His Finest Role Here, And Helena Bonham Carter Is Amazing. Fight Club Is A Cinematic Experience Unlike Any Other. A Stunning Work of Pure Genius. Few Films Are As Imaginative, Thrilling, Suspenseful, And Creative. An Original And Very Well Made Film. Brilliantly Made And Superbly Crafted.*

"We have front row seats for this theater of mass destruction. The demolition committee of Project Mayhem wrapped the foundation columns of a dozen buildings with blasting gelatin. In two minutes, primary charges will blow base charges and a few square blocks will be reduced to smoldering rubble. I know this... because Tyler knows this."*

"Man, I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off."*

"You're not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your fucking khakis. You're the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world."*

David Fincher Is A Cinematic Genius. Fight Club Is A Film That Will Stay With You Long After Its Over. Exceptional And Extraordinary In Every Way Imaginable. A Darkly Compelling, Mesmerizing, And Spellbinding Experience. No Words of Mine Can Describe How Amazing This Film Really Is. Edward Norton And Brad Pitt Give Truly Oscar Worthy Performances, Definitely Their Finest Work of Their Entire Careers So Far. David Fincher Is Just So Damn Good, Its Almost Unbelievable. Fight Club Is A Superb, Dazzling Work of Art. A Perfect Example of Truly Flawless FilmMaking. A Phenomenal, Incredible Achievement. I Love It. A Flawless Film...

Exceptional film, but very bad for those of us who don't want to kill themselves. Pitt and Norton are just superb, and Fincher makes this piece smelly and disgusting and thick with wonderful grit.

For the Ten Year Anniversary of Fight Club, Fincher is planning to bring the movie to Broadway in the form of a musical.

At first i thought this was a joke, i saw it on an interview with Jared Leto
    (http://youtube.com/watch?v=1PWyQc2DC4I)
And thought that it was unreal. I then searched it on the internet and it does seem as if Fincher is serious about this.

I'm really excited to see how they do this
    and how people will react.
