See this movie, when your in the comedy mood.Great cast,Plus anytime you can get bitchslapped with a Pork Chop, you are really going somewhere.Paul Rudd,Zach Braff and Jason Bateman just a few of the great cast members,Soooo funny,Thumbs up for this one!!My type of comedy right here Baby!
Really great comedy movie. Was funny too. I can't believe that guy. What a douche bag!! The ending of this movie was really nice. I watched it twice and still it's a really good comedy movie.
I liked it more than I probably should have, but you could do a lot worse than this Zach Braff vehicle. It is a one line gag story I suppose, and while you know clearly where it's headed, it still has a few laugh out loud moments and fans of both Braff and Jason Bateman, whose hilariously deviant, wheelchair bound, Chip is the whole reason to keep watching, should ignore the pedestrian story and give it a rent.
Plus you've got a fairly impressive supporting cast including Amanda Peet, Charles Grodin, Mia Farrow, Amy Adams and Amy Poehler. Maybe that's the problem then? A cast like this should mean that The Ex is a comedy classic. Well, it's hard to point the blame why, but it certainly does fall way short of such a title and in the end it's fun, but you can't help but think the talent has clearly been wasted.
I probably would have given it three stars if a bit more of the (deleted scenes) dramatic elements were left in - including Poehler's Carol's relationship with Tom (Braff) and a few scenes with Sofia's (Peet) parents. The film was barely 80minutes, so these scenes would have fleshed out the relationships more for the better in my eyes.
This movie was good but today I saw it for the second or third time and was kinda boring... but I definetly would have to say that it's not a family friendly movie, like all the rest of the movies I've seen.
If you think Zach Braff's facial expression are "endearing" and his voice doesn't grate on your nerves worse than the sound of someone beating a cow to death with a sick cat, you'd probably really like this movie.
Apparently, there are two versions of this film. The funny one, and the other one. Why in a god's name would anyone cut all the good parts out, is beyond me, but someone did it. In fact, as it turns out, those versions are so profoundly different, they can be regarded as two different movies all together. You can see a list of all scenes that were cut out on imdb. Honestly, they make all the changes.
Anyway, I got to see the uncut one, and I must say, this movie is hilarious! I love it.

Occasional funny parts, but to be truthful, most moments of laughter were included in the trailer and that had made it look a much funnier film than it actually was. There were some really odd parts and it most definitely had it?s fair share of cringeworthy parts too. Come on Zach Braff, we know you can be funnier than this!!!!
This movie was one of the funniest romantic comedies I have seen - lots of laughs - this movie fits the bill if you want a easy-to-watch comedy. Jason Bateman was especially funny in his role as the ex. The only downfall was perhaps the predictable ending but well worth the watch for entertainment value.
It has a good cast but they are all wasted. Hell, they aren't even that good here. Jason Bateman has been better in other of his recent movies. Like Hancock and Juno for example. While Zach Braff has been funnier in Scrubs, his acting has been been better in the show as well.
It also would be sad that Charles Grodin was wasted in this if he wasn't already in that horrible movie Clifford.
but dissapointing, i thought it would be funnier but ah well. still a nice film to see once. zach braff has his hillarious moments, its just not his best piece.
the cast are quite good.
interesting enough story. its just nothing special.
This movie is fun to watch. Its a pretty simple plot and some scenes are over the top but it does have a lot of laugh out loud moments. Zach Braff and Charles Grovin give solid performances. It's definatly worth watching but probably not something you'd add to a classic collection of comedies.
This is quite an interesting movie. You cannot help but to feel bad for Zach Braff's character and the mess he gets himself into - he's quite an unlucky guy. Whereas Jason Bateman's character is a creepy jerk. He really annoyed me but this shows that he's done a good job playing his part.
Funny movie. Nothing exceptional, but I enjoyed it. I liked the relationship between the two main characters. It seemed believable and relatively healthy, which you don't see in many movies today.
