This movie is not for everyone, thats for sure. I however, was on the side who enjoyed it. I loved its premise and story, THAT is where this movie shined. It lacks in the fight scenes...they are very cheesy and Matrix-esque (let the records show I liked this much better than the Matrix). You can tell this movie might have been riding the reins of the Matrix's popularity, however I felt the movies themes and story overshadowed it. If you can look over its flaws, you can actually see the interesting movie this really is. But I can totally see someone disliking that, and this is a hit or miss type of movie.

MCT:August 18, 2008This is a knock down drag out Kick Ass Production. No movie is quite like Equilibrium. the gramaton Clerics are the shit and Guncatta is one of the coolest forms of matial arts (fictitious as it my be). The ending will blow you away!

This is sort of reminiscent of The Matrix. This was a pretty good movie. I would recommend this to fans of The Matrix. Christian Bale did a very good job as well.

If Huxley had made his 'Brave New World' into an action movie, this would be it. Although, it makes you wonder if there are any other civilizations outside of their walls besides pockets of hiding people.

Very cool B movie, with cheesy dialogs and ok acting. I didn't know Christian Bale at the time, but boy did I think his acting sucked. But overall, the movie is fun as hell, with a final battle unlike anything I've seen before.

What an outstanding flick. A lot of comparisons to The Matrix and I can see why. Unfortunately this film didn't get much love at the box office. It surpasses many titles of its kind and shows again that Bale is the leading man of a generation. Outstanding performances. Great sets. Amazing choreography. Killer action scenes and some pretty great writing. Don't miss it.

How can you hide emotions that you've never felt? And why is the one blatantly apparent emotion that remains a thinly veiled rage? Despite these two overwhelming conundrums that the film could not resolve, this is an intriguing film that ultimately shows the lengths someone will go to to have complete control over people.
The plot is 'Matrix,' meets 'Minority Report,' meets 'V for Vendetta,' meets 'Gattaca,' and so on, but the socially relevant themes of this film are really what drive it home.
And the question I will pose is is the elimination of emotion necessary to have ultimate control over a society? In the end, the message here seems to be that nature will eventually restore its own order. And this movie does an exciting job showing us that. -

I love films with at least semi-realistic gun fights - all that house of flying daggers stuff sucks. So I enjoyed this - plus happy ending made a nice difference to a dystopia - 1984 makes me feel sick.

A exciting, intense, engaging, Sci-fi film. This movie was cool! The direction was fantastic and the music is a nice touch. I didn't know what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised.

Excellent plot and spectacular acting specially by Christian Bale !
I thought the events moved quickly which is a great thing, and there were some pretty good twists towards the end.. Definitely worth watching "more than once" -

Everything about this movies says John Preston is the star thats why he can do what he does, and can get away with anything, just as Neo is the one. It's an "okay" movie, definitely wouldn't compare it to the matrix though... even the chracters in matrix seems to be more on Prozium than these characters. The movie comes off as just a mimic of other film, and the ending (well not just the ending)... I got some criticism for that too...

In the present time... Afganist were hardly depend what's real world you've going to pursue. I saw another nation fought me like an equal to each and everyone... your viewpoint shall stand up again in time the promise land will be rise soon... nothing is impossible with Him (creator) might the essence you'd made through will be possible to happen in the nearest future. my favorite part about this movie is that there is a legitimate reason why the main character is so good at fighting. years of training and a complete suppression of emotion is a lot more believable than the matrix, where the main character has never fought before in his life, but is able to surpass those with years of training simply because he is "the one".

The fact that they created a fighting styles with guns is an incredible add on to fantasy/action sort of stuff, and is the sort of thing that should be used in future action movies. the action and suspense and editing they use in this movie is just incredible, and is far superior to most movies. the story is interisting, and it compells you more to like the charecter i'd say. And to retard over there saying its all been done, a gun kata fighting style definetly has not been done, alot of the sort of action they did in that had not been done, and thats saying something, since almost every possible plot line and plot twist and action sequence has already been done. its about how you do plot lines and plot twists and how you portray the charecters and action, not if some part of it has been done in some other movie.

This is a terribly overrated film. It brings absolutely NOTHING new to the table. Flashy martial arts performed by people in Black leather? Done already (The Matrix, among others). Secret Police confiscating and destroying books and what not? Done (Farenheit 451). A dystopian state where the tyrannical government watches your every move? Done (1984).
I feel like the only reason anyone would like this movie is that they are extremely uncultured. Once you've read some books, and seen some GOOD, SIGNIFICANT movies, there's no reason to ever see this garbage.
