A bit slow but the actors and the story are really good and a lot of scenes are really priceless. The ending will surely put a BIG smile on your face!

Veanla y luego me cuentan.

As flixster has not yet provided a synopsis nor a character sketch, I believe it is my duty to do so. So BARE WITH ME HERE! :D

Hunting and Gathering, from the original french title Ensemble, c'est tout, is the story of four people whose lives intertwine after a series of events occur. As the french title suggests, these four characters will learn that all they need is to be with one another, and that together they are stronger.

Camille, played by Audrey Tautou, is a a strong-willed cleaning woman with amazing talents in illustration and also the victim of anorexia nervosa.
Franck, played by the delicious Guillaume Canet, is the stereotypical tough cookie on the outside, yet sweet on the inside - whilst concocting french delicacies, as his profession.
Philibert, played by Laurent Stocker (newbie), is an emotional aristocrat with an affinity for helping others.
And of course, Paulette, played by Françoise Bertin, is Franck's delicate grandmother and the most endearing grandmother I have seen on the big screen in a long while!

The reason I enjoyed this much more than your average Joe is because this is real. It is deeply touching and made me shed a few tears, even during the joyous scenes. Every character has a different story to tell and each one is as captivating as the next.
Now don't get me wrong here, this isn't the best French film I have seen. But still, it's got substance. And now I'm leaning towards buying the novel, written by Anna Gavalda.

My favourite performance swings between Tautou and Canet. However, Laurent Stocker shows talent in his acting debut? yes, Hunting and Gathering is his first film (and probably not the last).

I recommend this to fans of the genre or those who delight in the wonders of French cinema. Paradoxically, if you have a thing for action-packed Hollywood blockbusters then please avoid this.

Beautiful film, good characters, well acted. Tauto & Canet are amazing. They look so good. Supproting cast is great; ie: Bertin & Stocker. Tastefully done. Bravo.

    (Thanks Janice for the tip!!)

Amusing, engaging and touching, with splendid performances. This French romantic-drama frilm is fascinating and entertaining look at four very dissimilar people whose lives suddenly interconnect. So emotionally as what I thought these are alike family they care about each other.
Beautiful French actress Audrey Tautou makes her fantastic performance as poor cleaner who is bored with life before things changes to spend with two flatmates. I love French movies.

I enjoyed this one a lot more than I expected to! It did not look half as light and funny as it was from the trailer. This is just a nice film, nothing clever about it and missing the abrupt ending French films often have. (Actually the one fault I could find with it was that the ending was a little too stick-your-fingers-down-your-throat-nauseating), but no one else who saw it with me was complaining, so perhaps that was just me! Fans of chick flicks, who don't mind reading subtitles, will enjoy this and probably pretty much anyone who liked Audrey Tautou in "Amelie". I would have to say that Laurent Stocker stole the show in this though with his character Philibert - absolutely hilarious, although how anyone is meant to believe that character is not gay is beyond me!

Since I watched it, I can't stop thinking about it. It still lingers in the corerns of my mind with life's lessons and about life itself. A really great movie.

Really sweet and entertaining flick..but Tautou is just mostly walking around being pretty and sweet and cute Amelie-style which makes me wonder, can she really act or is that Amelie-thing just an act? My grade may have been affected by having bad luck with movies recently.

Simple and sweet premise with the potential to be a worthy love flick esp with ever effable Tatou who delivers as usual but show is marred with bland dialogue, weak scripting and pacing thus diluting actors' performances, failing to infuse story elements to whip up a fiesty dish that the male lead who's a cook in the show wld b proud of. Priceless by Tatou is miles better as romantic fluff

a modern day cinderella nurses party chef's grandmama to death, very nicely. not one of tautou's best, but perhaps the only one of her films where you can feel for her character, quirky as it is.

Audrey Tautou, Laurent Stocker and Guillaume Canet give great performance.

It's about someone who tries to 'hunting' love, and someone who doesn't know how to 'gathering' it.

I suppose it`s always a bit easier having a rather thin book as a model for a good film where you can work more on details than having lots and lots of pages to stow away in 90 minutes film material, where many things that made the book special naturally disappear.I guess, I`m one of those that complain about the imperfection of the film , although I didn`t think it was bad.I can`t really say - it just wasn`t the book!

I loved this movie. Found myself understanding a lot of French words, but I still used the subtitles for the rest. :) Tautou looks beautiful, and the chemistry between her and Canet is amazing. The moment I thought that the pair won't go together, the story showed me something to the contrary. I loved the pace of the movie (which is unusual for me). Tautou's dialog delivery comes alive in a French movie (after the strange one in Da Vinci Code).
    Overall, Definitely Recommended.
