As much as I dread Disney movie now,I am a father to 2 little brats that like them.I was so sure,I was gonna hate this movie but I didn't.This movie takes the traditional Disney cartoon in the begining then brings it to modern day New York city. The scene where the princess sings for her animal friends to help her clean is priceless, when the animals that come are rats, roaches and pigeons.James Marsden who never seems to get the girl in any of his movies is funny as a clueless prince.Patrick Dempsey is also funny playing an uptight lawyer.what makes this movie funny is that it's not afraid to make fun of itself and its genre.
ahh i love this movie! patrick dempsey is so adorable!! i luv wen she justs bursts into song
i flippin LOVE THIS movie!! so CUTE!!!!! aHH!!! amy adams is so adorable.. and James Marsden is frickin HILARIOUS!!! i absolutely love his acting.. hes so cute.. i luv da songs in this.. i just love everything.. and Patrick Dempsey is soooo hot and i like his character.. it was so funny wen giselle just started bustin out wit da singing in front of everyone.. hhahahaha
the PERFECT family movie of the year! i was very prejudiced against this movie at first but when i saw it i fell in love with it instantly. it is so sweet! another million kudos for this movie!
How does she know that you love her? How do you show her you love her? How does she know that you really, really, truly love her?
If I could give it a million stars, I would!! IT'S MY FAVORITE MOVIE! I SO recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it!! It's very cheesy, but I love it! And plus, Patrick Dempsey is HOT!
Ok, I know I had a "Not Interested" mark on this one! But I was bored and having some privileges on my "cable box" I said lets see it! And I was actually surprised that this movie had me giggelling. It was funny and well writen! It is a movie for kids but everyone can enjoy! Check it out!
Cute, Amy Adams is very pretty. Not really my cup of tea, and I don't know why 3 songs where nominated for 3 Oscars. Marsden is funny, dumb but funny.
I saw a bit of this and it was really funny. I like James Marsden's clueless character. Patrick Dempsey is also very hot.
Best fairy tale ever!!
Awesome kids movie, love how it spoofs all the old disney classics!!
Expected to hate this movie, considering my loathing of all things Disney and most kids movies as well, but I hate to admit I really enjoyed it. Hmmm.... I must have been really sick with the flu this week. LOL. Maybe I'm reading things into it that aren't there, but it did seem to have a bit or irony to it and not take itself seriously at all and a lot of it was actually really funny.
I went into this knowing what the premise was AND that it was a Disney film, but I had been hearing that it was really clever and funny (and with Susan Sarandon as the evil queen...) I figured "what the heck".
This film was completely predictible, wholly unoriginal and only slightly ammusing.
Amy Adams was good as the syrupy sweet (soon to be) Princess. But with not a whole lot else going for it, this film fizzled for me.
Patrick Dempsey walk through his part, bringing little depth or passion to it.
And (this saddens me most of all) even Susan Sarandon came across as subdued (I blame Disney).
Someone had told me that "it's funny because Disney is poking fun at themselves with this film"...but I felt like I had been dupped into sitting through yet another attempt at Disney to create something "new" by recycling what they already have in the "Disney Vaults".
i didnt get to see the beginning but thought it was funnykeeps that she keeps cutting up his curtains to make dresses.
This movie is spendiforus! Patrick Demsey and James Marsden are really cute! The music is funny too.
I watched this movie with my daughter yesterday and it was really cute! I can't believe I actually cried at the end!
Disney promoted the hell out of this movie which is the only reason I watched it, after the 7th hundred and 55th commercial saying the DVD was comming out tomorrow I figured I better watch it or the commercials wouldn't stop. It was a very cute movie though and very entertaining, so much so I ended up buying it! I'd recommend it to anyone especially if they have little girls!
I've said in the past that I miss Disney's traditional 2D hand drawn animation. Unfortunately it doesn't look like it's making a comeback anytime soon, so Enchanted is probably the closest thing we're going to get. I'll also admit that I enjoy the mixture of animation of live-action, a surreal quality that I've yet to get over. Those qualities and the good reviews that it received, I was somewhat excited to see this film aimed at 10-year-old girls. I was also hoping that my son might enjoy it, and as always he was my excuse to watch it.
The first 15 minutes is a bit of a send-up of Disney's classic damsel in distress, waiting for her prince to rescue her storyline, Cinderella and Snow White are the most obvious inspirations, but you'll notice touches from a lot of their films. The animation is nicely done, but seems kind of soft, it doesn't have the crispness of their prior films; I'm guessing they were going for a girlie kind of look. That's the main problem I had with the film, it's way too girlie. I know that's pretty much the point, but I would have enjoyed it a lot more if they'd reigned in the sappiness.
There's a lot to like about this film though. Amy Adams is incredible as Gisele, the animated princess lost in New York. She truly captures the fairy-tale princess essence, and brings it fully to life. James Marsden also has a lot of fun as Prince Edward, running around town in a ridiculous get-up, trying to slay steel-dragons aka city buses. Susan Sarandon enjoys chewing the scenery as the evil witch queen, but she's fairly obvious throughout. Patrick Dempsey doesn't do anything for me, he's totally bland here, a pretty boy with perfect hair. I liked him much more in the 80's, in films like Can't Buy Me Love.
I liked a lot of the story, it's completely predictable that Gisele will learn and grow as a person, from her blind happily ever after persona, to a more real life woman. It's also obvious as to who she's going to end up with, exactly when and how. But this is a film for little girls, so I wasn't expecting any surprises. I was hoping for a little more spark to it all, any time Dempsey shows up, he seems to suck all the energy out of the film.
Enchanted is a cute and fairly well made film. It starts off very inspired with the great spoof of Disney classics; I especially liked the Happy Working Song, where Gisele uses her magical voice to get the animals of New York, rats, pigeons and cockroaches to help her clean Dempsey's apartment. But somewhere in the 2nd act, it becomes a fairly typical romantic comedy, with a bit of fantasy twist, and the songs become a lot lamer. I did think the dragon at the end was fairly cool to watch, and there was a slight twist in who goes after it. If you have a young girl in the house, this is very likely already a favorite; for the boys, I think I enjoyed it more than my son, and we won't bother buying it for him.

Even though PD was in this I didn't like it. It felt way too rushed, weird and retarded. The one and a half stars rating I gave it are just for PD.

I think this movie gathers all of the enchantment of classic disney movies, with ba real world twist, wonderfull music and a marvelous cast. It shows that happily ever afters exist even in this modern days.

What I liked here MOST was that it shows the princess can sometimes save the prince as well - she too can be the hero. They pay homage to all the old Disney movies too with little secret clues - some are obvious and some not so obvious but if you utilize the Blu-ray options they will actually pop-up on screen and show you - very very clever. So it's like a hidden game within the movie. A lot of fun.
i loved the movie.loved the songs.it was wonderful!animation and real world.amy did a great job.
I ended my review of this movie with possibly the weirdest metaphor I have ever used in my entire life. I just... I felt like I had to point that out to someone. It's truly, sincerely bizarre.
