The objective of the film is not to shame people into boycotting diamonds. Instead, it is to raise a voice on behalf of the millions of diamond diggers and to help disadvantaged communities and entrepreneurs reach their full economic potential. Promoting conscious consumerism and using the power and influence of the hip-hop music, BLING tries to encourage buying "clean" diamonds.

BLING will link the hip-hop generation in the U.S. with the residents of Sierra Leone in order to experience a community that has suffered atrocities at the hands of rebels, some as young as 4, from 1991?2001.

    Trailer: View

Since the official end of the Sierra Leone conflict in January 2002, an international effort has aimed to curb the illicit trade and smuggling of diamonds, giving way to a number of initiatives such as the Kimberley Certification Scheme and the UNDP Diamonds for Development Initiative (D4D).

This underrated Mafia film ranks at the top when it comes to emotional intensity, character development, and revealing the inside nature of the Mob. It's gritty, real and totally engrossing. One of the most moving and insightful gangster films ever made.

Brilliant movie with two superb performances from modern day legend Jonny Depp and all-time great Al Pacino. I think this movie is based incredibly close to its source materil, which is a true story. The film follows Donnie Brasco (Depp) who is a little-known jewellry theif who starts making his way into a powerful New York mafia family through ageing moster Lefty (Pacino). But all is not what it seems, Donnie is actually Joe Pistone, an undercover FBI agent who is infiltrating this family to gain information and take them down. But Brasco/Pistone soon starts to form a bond with his 'mafia mentor' Lefty, which starts making the whole job there bit more harder. If that wasen't enough the stress of work is effecting his family life with his wife and kids as he slowly starts moving apart. This movie has all the roiginal mafia movie elements. New York, mob family, ageing mobster etc. But it still feels original and still fully engrosses you, like all the good mafia movies do. The film has an excellent script. It is one of these stories that you must think it has been mucked about by Hollywood and it isn't actually like the true story it is based on. But after watching this movie, I did some research and found out that this movie is actually pretty close with the story and on retrospective, it makes the wole thing seem so realistic. Donnie's character arc is the most intresting. It really gives in sight to how this sort of job can effect your normal life. These agents have to be careful with how they seprate their lives. Joe Pistone soon starts to become Donnie Brasco, that is scary becoming someone you're not and how you change if you're in one place for too long. When Donnie does pull out at the end, he doesn't feel right. This is something that has been his life for so many years, and now he has to go back to normal life. It is almost like he has forgotten what a normal life is. None of this realism would be possible without the brilliant cast. Al Pacino is his usual best, in rather familiar territory. But what is different this time is that he is playing an aeing mobster whose day was yesteryear and he hasen't got what he deserves. He has been busting his balls for most of his life and it has got nothing out of it. Michael Madsen is scary as Sonny, the man who has really got what should be Lefty's. The only person in the cast who doesn't really have enough time to make an impact is Anne Heche. She is a great actress but does't really do much. Johnny Depp is the big surprise of this cast. He was really establishing himself around this time and to play off Al Pacino is a big task for anyone. Depp just glides off with ease. The film is at its best when Depp and Pacino are on screen together. It is just great to watch them play-off with each other, both of them look like they're enjoying themselves. The only real problem with this movie is the ending. It all seems quite rushed and you are left guessing with the end of Lefty's story and Brasco/Pistone's one isn't exactly nicely rounded off. But thatdoesn't really effect the experience. You watch this film to see some of the best performances from two amazing actors. Forget about it!

Gangster movie atipico, sull'amicizia e sull'onore con una solo scena (molto) cruenta. Ha il suo più grande pregio nell'originalità quando nel genere sembrava essere detto già tutto, con due attori che sono una garanzia.

Besides the fact my DVD player was on the fritz when I tried to watch this, it was a brilliant film. A young Johnny Depp was brilliant, and Al Pacino was great o watch. And those who say Pacino yells to much, well, they should be happy with this.

I thought it was alright. I mean you can't really go wrong with Al Pacino. I also thought Johnny Depp was good in it too, but it doesn't really reach the heights of the Godfather or Goodfellas, nevertheless a good watch.

This movie is about FBI undecover agent Joe Pistone who infiltrates the mob, leaving his family behind and assuming the false persona of the jewel man Donnie Brasco.

The movie sucks you into the criminal underworld from the start, and never lets you go. Depp is perfectly cast and Pacino is also great as a bitter gangster who always been looked-over by his bosses. Fans of both actors will not be disappointed,

I like the understated direction of this movie. Unlike other gangster movies every scene is not done in a grand or epical manner . If one expected a high thrill ride with gun's blazing then this movie will fall short of expectations.

Al Pacino has delivered a great performance where its not just about high pitched dialogues. Depp shows his prowess. This movie also tries to highlight a point in a subtle manner - the only thing they are interested is getting the job done 'at any cost' , whether it's the mafia or the cops.

I really liked this film. I think I first saw it when I was about 8 years old so .. being a Johnny depp, Al Pacino film, I didnt quite get some of the plot. I really can't say anything, anything I say , I've just given away the whole film. I would say any Johnny lover or Al Pacino fan would do well with watching it, although I would say some wouldn't like it. If you're in for a thrill ( I suppose, to put a word to it) try it.

Pacino's best performance since Glengarry. Tremendous chemsitry between Depp and Al, every character is as important as the next. Great look into the world of the low level mafia, at least in the most humane way.

Oh...my...gosh! I didn't think it was humanly possible, but after the couple minutes of this movie, I didn't even notice Johnny was in this! I was so into the movie, I didn't care who was who, I just wanted to watch it!!

This movie can REALLY tell a story. I was confused at first, I was thinking: Does Joe/Donnie have a secret life, that he's hiding from his wife? It turns out, no, he didn't. He was just an undercover FBI agent, who, by the ending, really DID have a secret life. I think it had the most grossest bloody[as in gory, not as in pirate language] part I've ever seen: taking out body organs from bodies. *shivers*

I would say this movie was really good, and I can't wait until I find the book this movie was based on. ^_^

This movie is what I would call a masterpiece! A movie for all generations of people. True you would definatly have to be 17 if you have a weak stomach or delicate ears. I'm warning you there is more than it's share of swearing and blood. But after you get past the reasons it's "R" it is a touching story of a man Joe Pistone/ Donnie Brasco (DEPP) who goes undercover into the mob and finds out how much trouble and pain the mob causes it's participants and those who happen to get in the way or even next to it. Al Pacino did a heart breaking preformance and left you begging for more! The Cinamatography was brilliant, esp. the typewriter views and the camera views (with the click and close of the lens) The director Mike Newell knew what he was doing when he directed this true story about a man who started to lose everything when he found something.

If you're interested in crime stories, this one is a must see. The fact that it's based on a true story (like Goodfellas and Casino) makes it all more interesting.

Al Pacino in the mob, but this time, on the opposite side of the heirarchy. A low-level aging hitman who can't get no respect. One of the few times Al gets to expand his acting muscles as opposed to just flexing 'em with a loud performance, which, though he's good at, has sorta become his standard.
For me, a great gangster movie isn't just about "wacking" people. It's when it shows the inner-most details of how the mob works. This one goes towards the very lowest part of the totem & shows us how the "cogs" grind thru a living in hopes of someday climbing that mafia ladder.

This movie has one of my favorite Al Pacino performances. It's especially noteworthy because he's not shouting throughout the movie the way he normally does. Depp is also strong and the movie is appropriately tense.

A VERY good film! A few ppl have left reviews/comments saying that Depp's character is a snitch, well, perhaps they didn't watch the film!?

He's an FBI agent who infiltrates the mob leads them up the river and fucks'em in the ass! Which is exactly what they deserve!
