Not as good as I thought. It was super cute, but not what I was expecting and what the trailers were giving off. It was okay, overall.
Great movie!!!! All fathers need to be like him, and she is just so a great child actress. Funny, sad, a great movie.
Aww, I just LOVED this movie!! It was cute, funny, and even made me cry at one part! This movie has 2 happy endings....
Sometimes it takes the simplistic view of child to break down the complexities of love. A realistic and hopeful love story.
This movie already on my 'TOP LIST OF ROMANTIC MOVIES OF ALL TIME' because of its wonderful storytelling by both Abigail Breslin and Ryan Reynolds. I agreed when someone said that Ryan's talent was a waste on Just Friends, and its comeback could be in this movie, when he played 30 year-old father and somehow he was on his way to explain a 10 year-old girl on 'how I met your mother', a question about his love-life from the beginning.
I love the plot. Multi plot, and it reconnects 3 different characteristics of Will's lucky lady (Emily, April, and Summer) in his tale, and the way Will express his pity feelings when it comes to his meeting with 'the mother' on the park while Maya watching them... I guess it's one of the sentimental scene, despite Will's desire on becoming President of USA (it's really funny, by the way. It captures the comical side effect) and of course, it's all romantic-type-story that people would love to see in its honest interpretation of what LOVE is in adult world.
I used to believe on cinderella's story 'happily ever after' but now, i guess 'Love is not a Fairytale', after all.
Great watch, I'm sure you'll enjoy.
I thought this was a sweet movie about finding your true love, and about a father bonding with his daughter
I just saw this movie today and I loved it. I was the only teenage guy in the theatre also. The movie had a great message to it about always being happy. The little girl in this movie was also great she brought a lot to this movie, with out her this would not have been a good movie. The acting was good and the direction was especially good as well. I saw this with my dad today and it brought tears to his eyes. So this movie was also a tear jerker. For someone that loves romantic comedy movies I think would love this movie. It was a little slow moving but I kind of expected it to be. After it got near the end of the movie though it really got you thinking and wishing for him to end up with the girl he was meant to be with. It kind of also took little twists which were good as well. Ryan Reynolds did a terrific job in this movie playing a father who is going through a divorce. Then his daughter tries to help him find his true love. This movie was everything I hoped for so I think that you should definitely take someone to see this movie and have a great time.
A really nice and cute movie with a different take on the usual predictability of romantic comedies. Not a usual Ryan Reynolds movie, but he's great in this one too! To be recommended to anyone who's a sucker for happy endings!
This is a really sweet entertaining movie - Not the usual chick flick plot lines and some really cool characters. I love the cast Ryan Reynolds is really likeable and i thought Isla Fisher really shined in this (i've liked everything she's done lately).... see it you might be pleasantly suprised
Pretty cute,I thought it was going to deal with him and his daughter more than it did his career and all.But I love the cast and it's a very sweet story.
The only movie I had watched with Ryan Reynolds before this one was Just Friends and I must say that I really didn't enjoy that movie, on the other hand this movie had a wonderful storyline, spectacular acting and then the fact that they could put in an unexpected ending, which wasn't expected as it was an american romantic comedy, was completely fascinating!
I'm glad that it took ages until you got to know who the real mum was and I liked the fact that all the girls could be reasonable mothers so there wasn't really an obvious answer.
Much like Dan in Real Life, Definitely Maybe defies conventions thanks to its smartly layered structure and real heart. Special mention to Ryan Reynolds, who delivers a thoroughly winning and heartfelt performance. Undoubtedly his (and costars Breslin, Weisz, Fisher, and Banks) best work to date.
Man! loved this movie...so sweet..esp.the lines " I wanna marry you because i want you the 1st person i wanna look at when i wake up...and the only one i want to kiss goodnight...but but... how you will handle such a curious daughter?...and well " divorced" find out??? such a nice movie...
pretty good. but this story has been done before. although the acting was good and it keeped me entertained
It was a bit longer of a ride then I was planing on taking. As a director I have to watch a wide veriaty of movies
Nice little romantic comedy that shows Ryan Reynolds can be almost taken seriously sometimes. While it strays into chic flick territory a little too often, the three female leads are delightful and Isla Fisher particularly shines. The comedy of circumstance hits home, but for the most part the laughs are few. As a character driven story it works, but tends to get a little fluffy. I have to applaude the ending which makes the brave move so many other rom-coms do not. Fun fluff.
well it wasn't quite what i thougth, but it was a good one, the way it all develops, it is sweet and it has a special charm to it,
A delightful movie that has a talented cast, good music, a charming plot, a few laughs, a lot of heart and a few great twists. Ryan Reynolds and Isla Fisher have amazing on-screen chemistry.
Nice concept, predictable story, Competent acting (although never been much into Ryan Reynolds), but I never felt a strong chemistry between any of the characters. I most enjoyed the scenes w/ Rachel Weisz & Kevin Klein. Besides them the interaction between the characters was lacking. This was slightly entertaining but average.
Going into it, I thought it was going to be just another predictable romantic comedy. But I was wrong. Definitely, Maybe has a good plot with great acting by a fine cast. At times it can be a little cliche, but isn't every romantic comedy? I did like the whole Jane Eyre subplot, though. Overall a very good romantic comedy.
''I wanna marry you because you're the first person that I wanna look at when i wake up in the morning and the only one I wanna kiss goodnight, because...the first time that i saw these hands i couldn't imagine not being able to hold them but mainly when you love someone as much as i love you...getting married is the only thing left to do, so... will you... hum...marry me? ''
''Definitely, maybe... i have to think about it.''
A political consultant tries to explain his impending divorce and past relationships to his 11-year-old daughter.
Ryan Reynolds: Will Hayes
Definitely, Maybe marks a step back from Love Actually's multiple plot threads, opting instead for a brilliantly crafted script played out by a tight ship cast (Kevin Kline was class and very funny in his wee role). Cleverly Definitely, Maybe turns out charisma charged enough not to be soppy, but with lots of loving heart to be touching where it counts.
Screenwriter Adam Brooks, co-writer of Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason and Wimbledon, so assured behind the camera. Maybe it's the unblemished array of vision but beyond a over indulgent voice-over and an odd musical interlude over the opening credits, there's barely a trace of the problems that beleaguered his previous workings.
Ryan Reynolds as Will Hayes results in a acting talent with a beautiful combination of charm, a penchant for comedy, and good looks. He's been repeatedly stuck with bad roles like Blade:Trinity and the flat Smoking Aces but this romance movie shows his talent in spades.
Like most good ideas, Definitely, Maybe has a true similarity to life and love, like a modern remake of the classic Princess Bride, where the child is told a story.
Little Miss Sunshine's Abigail Breslin is the kind of adorable whippersnapper who knows she doesn't have to act too much and though she's still growing up, she applies the same sweetness and naivety that bagged her an Oscar nomination in last year's ceremony.
If there's a fault, it's maybe the seesaw of attention divulged to the three women in Will's life: college sweetheart Emily (Elizabeth Banks), free spirit April (Isla Fisher), and ambitious intellectual Summer (Perfect Rachel Weisz). All three play gracefully and beautifully, but they're not given a huge amount of screen-time, which soon reveals where the story is leading. That is, however, a minor criticism so definitely, maybe unjust to complain.
There's something about Definitely, Maybe that the inclusion of both Rachel Weisz and Clint Mansel's music that increases and makes my heart really pulse. A fleeting, distant, connection to my favourite film The Fountain that echoes around my feelings for Definitely, Maybe. In a way it has a soul and a message at it's core.
Beautiful.
I fell asleep both times I tried watching the movie. I would like to know how it ends, but there are points in the movie that are boring.
