Perfect casting choices. Some people think this movie is sort of blasphemous, but I think it is a very accurate portrayal of what most humans would do if we had God's power. We would use it to our own selfish good. Great ending showing that he truly learned to see and care for other people the way God does.
Jim Carey is amazing as Bruce, and Morgan Freeman is so believable as god. I initially thought that this wouldn't be too funny, that Jim Carey had reached his peak, but how wrong was I! Its as if this film was written with Jim Carey in mind, it suits him so well. Funny scenes include a monkey popping out of a man's backside (and climbing back in) and the news reporter making an idiot out of himself on tv. The film also has an unexpected sentimental theme to it. After being given the powers of god, Bruce realises he cannot even deal with the prayers in his home city, so how can he possibly manage the prayers of the world? I found myself with a tear in my eye when Jennifer Aniston's character prays that she can let Bruce go - incredibly poignant. But the true star quality lies with Morgan Freeman, I certainly wouldn't mind if he was indeed god. A very funny film, definitely worth watching, the special effects used to convey god's powers are fantastic, a treat to any Jim Carey fan.
Jim Carrey finds himself with God's powers and does some forgettable things with them. There's a long buildup to getting those powers, and then nothing too exciting happens once he does.
Bruce Almighty is another film that Jim Carrey has done repeatidly in the past. Same stale jokes and if he is going to have the power of God wouldn't you think he would do more? This movie is a real dude and disappointing all around. 1 star and that is being kind.
Endlessly hilarious and enjoyable. A teriffic comedy. You cant resist it. The laughs just come tumbling out. Jim Carey is at his very comic best. Morgan Freeman is wonderful. Jennifer Aniston is irresitable.
