I always thought this is an old stupid movie cuz it looks so old. But it's totally not. This movie is CLASSIC. Now i understand y ppl luv it so much. It's classic, babe, classic luv comedy. And Audrey Hepburn is beautiful. Iluv her voice. Her character is also interesting. Holly is such a clueless chracter. Sometimes ppl r afraid of settling down, so they run away and be wild and controlless. Everyone is afraid of the new change. That's why i like Holly, she's beautiful and funny, intalegent and wierd. She's seems to not care anything, but she cares more than anyone.

This film makes me question my humanity - perhaps I am a robot? Or just simply built without a heart? Both are probable as I must admit I felt nothing for this boring story or it's characters. (I speak of course only of the MOVIE, and NOT the book.) I just may be the only person that fails to understand the crazy-love the world has for it.

Not only do I find Holly Go Lightly to be neither charming nor adorable, but feel that Hepburn's performance is quite unimpressive to boot. (in comparison to her others)

I'd like to relate with or find something redeeming about SOMEONE - ANY of the flittering individuals occupying this scenario, and yes, the presence of a troubled writer interested me - but my hopes were shattered with Varjak (Peppard) as he just turned out to be another bore caught up in the Go Lightly "spell" (why?? I haven't the slightest idea) And I certainly couldn't count on the stupidly cast Mickey Rooney with his offensively lame portrayal of the "oriental landlord." Yuck.

A Heartless-bot I may be, but this film is no great shakes.

This movie is great. I am obsessed with Audrey Hepburn! Anyway, the characters are great, and Holly is a great role for Audrey to portray.

Classic. My favorite Audrey film. Stays pretty true to the book. well as true as it could be for Audrey and the 60s.

Aah, Moon River. Nice to see producers actually letting Audrey Hepburn SING in a film for a change. Oh and the mask scene, and the kiss in the rain? Classic romantic moments here, people!

"What I've found does the most good is just to get into a taxi and go to Tiffany's. It calms me down right away, the quietness and the proud look of it; nothing very bad could happen to you there..."

I think it's overrated but in fairness the second half of the movie was good. I guess there are a lot of women like this is the world - and a lot that try to be like this too.

A thoroughly average script. Audrey Hepburn is at best un-convincing, at worst wretchedly irritating. And Mickey Rooney should have been hanged for his shameful performance But hey, at least they saved the cat...

There is no wonder why this is a pop classic. The concept of Breakfast at Tiffany's is still popular and there are bound to still be many struggling actors in NYC that are going thru the same thing as Hepburn's character. All in all, it has a great message. No matter who or where you are, be yourself!

'Holly Golightly: He's all right! Aren't you, cat? Poor cat! Poor slob! Poor slob without a name! The way I see it I haven't got the right to give him one. We don't belong to each other. We just took up one day by the river. I don't want to own anything until I find a place where me and things go together. I'm not sure where that is but I know what it is like. It's like Tiffany's.
Paul Varjak: Tiffany's? You mean the jewelry store.
Holly Golightly: That's right. I'm just CRAZY about Tiffany's!'
'Holly Golightly: I'll tell you one thing, Fred, darling... I'd marry you for your money in a minute. Would you marry me for my money?
    Paul Varjak: In a minute.
Holly Golightly: I guess it's pretty lucky neither of us is rich, huh?
    Paul Varjak: Yeah.'
'Holly Golightly: Thursday! It can't be! It's too gruesome!
Paul Varjak: What's so gruesome about Thursday?
Holly Golightly: Nothing, except I can never remember when it's coming up.'
'Paul Varjak: You know what's wrong with you, Miss Whoever-you-are? You're chicken, you've got no guts. You're afraid to stick out your chin and say, "Okay, life's a fact, people do fall in love, people do belong to each other, because that's the only chance anybody's got for real happiness." You call yourself a free spirit, a "wild thing," and you're terrified somebody's gonna stick you in a cage. Well baby, you're already in that cage. You built it yourself. And it's not bounded in the west by Tulip, Texas, or in the east by Somali-land. It's wherever you go. Because no matter where you run, you just end up running into yourself.
[takes out the ring and throws it in Holly's lap]
Paul Varjak: Here. I've been carrying this thing around for months. I don't want it anymore.'
'Holly Golightly: It should take you exactly four seconds to cross from here to that door. I'll give you two.'

I adored it!!!!!!!! More than I could ever imagine! True, this is full of tackiness and cheesiness, but who cares!?!? That's precisely what makes it so lovely. Audrey Hepburn is alway classy, gorgeous and everything any woman would like to be, and here she gives a fantastic performance, truly sweet and like-a-ble yet missunderstood and heartbreaking at the same time. It is George Peppard though who I like the most in here, not only is his character the portrait of a perfect man but his performance is totally sexy and believable. He definitely got to ooz thar feeling that only a few can transmit where all of us, girls, can't get enough of him. I love this type of classic movies because the plot is alway so simple and without too much they make a lot. Breakfast at Tiffany's is completely real and because everything looks so natural it seems surreal, that's what drew me in the most. I think I could listen to the dialogue of it forever, it is full of so many cool quotes and that is excatly what makes a movie great.

I love her, but don't love the movie. Very overrated. Very. The chemistry lacks between Hepburn and Peppard (it's so obvious that his character wasn't straight in the book, it didn't translate well). She's adorable though. Rooney destroys parts of the movie. So unnecessary.

Well, you have to understand me. This is my first Audrey Hepburn film. I had seen pictures of her before but I had never seen her in action, showing all her strange beauty, her elegance and her unique grace.
Apart from that I think that the film is great. It's simple but smart at the same time. Some lines are very interesting. And it achieves the perfect level of romance for a romantic film. I don't believe that any nowadays romantic film can make the audience feel what this movie can. But maybe that is just personal.
It's hard for me to say why I'm giving it 5 stars but I just loved it.
Plus, another big reason for loving it as I did is the absolutely perfectly excellent Henry Mancini's "Moon River". One of my all time favourite songs for sure.

Audrey Hepburn never fails enchant and entertain, and this film is certainly no exception. while still a decent romantic comedy, I felt the overall story lacked a certain level of detail and character development. Mickey Rooney's character was also too outlandish, stereotyped, and miscast to be of any real value to the film. still a film with no shortage of laughs, class, and charm, it's still great fun with one of film's most enduring characters in overcompensating playgirl Holly Golightly.

As I expected, this was nothing special. It tells the story of two people who fall in love. Stuff happens in there, but it's mostly a love story. The plot was okay but didn't really do much for me. There were some elements in there that didn't really seem necessary such as the mafia connections but then again, something had to happen to make the story work.

The acting wasn't bad. I felt like Hepburn and Peppard cared for each other on screen so it was at least believable. What ruined this movie was Mickey Rooney. He plays Hepburn's neighbor, a Japanese man. For those not familiar with Mickey Rooney, his is Caucasian and his would-be comedy is not the least bit funny. I don't have a problem with things that may come off as racist, but this was just stupid. The movie is not a comedy and having a white man play a Japanese man in a movie made in the 1960s is just terrible - it ruined an otherwise mediocre picture.

This is possibly Hepburn's defining role and after four films I'm not the least bit impressed with anything she has done. Her singing here was decent and the song won an Oscar which leaves me confused as to why her voice was dubbed in My Fair Lady. The scene with her at a table smoking a cigarette is probably one of the most iconic images in the history of cinema, but that's about all I got out of this. Eventually I'll give Hepburn yet another chance in Charade which also stars Cary Grant and is supposed to be like a Hitchcock film. For now, this is yet another poor film with Hepburn and I'm still wondering why the American Film Institute calls her the second greatest actress of all-time.

    61/100
