Just when his career hits an all-time low, a conceited and frustrated movie star, Jack Wyatt, gets one last shot when he's cast to do a remake of a cult TV series, 'Bewitched,' playing the lead role o...( read more

Very cute. I've always like the show, because every once and a while it's on the air (RERUNS obviously) Nicole Kidman has always been one of my favorite actresses and this movie definatly rises my impression of her... Will Ferrell is just will Ferrell in this movie
A movie adaptation of the beloved TV series from the 70s turns it into a stupid movie with no reason to exist.
Movie actor "Jack Wyatt" (Will Ferrell) has come up with what he thinks is a brilliant idea to salvage his career after his last three movies bombed at the Box Office. He wants to remake the classic American Broadcasting Company's (ABC) television series "Bewitched" with him as "Darrin" and an unknown in the role of "Samantha" so that he might steal the spotlight from her.
One day, he sees a very pretty woman (Nicole Kidman) who looks much like the late "Bewitched" star, Elizabeth Montgomery and convinces her to join the cast of the new version of the television series.
The woman, "Isabel Bigelow" (Kidman), has a secret however. She is a real-life witch who wants to live the life of a mortal, much like "Samantha" did in the original television series. Her father (Michael Caine), who absolutely adores his daughter, tries to convince her that living the life of a mortal is the wrong idea. Her life even has others people in it who mirror not only mirrors the characters from the television series.
There are a lot of references to the original series. Many of the most memorable characters appear. Caine is near perfect as "Bigelow's" father and you can sense that he has made the father adore his daughter, much like the same character in the movie. Though she is not playing the same character, McClaine is pretty good as actress "Iris Smython" who plays the TV show's character "Endora". McClaine is pretty much a mirror image of the late Agnes Moorehead, who portrayed "Endora" in the television series. She has the hair color and the flamboyant clothing as "Endora", but she didn't really have the same personality. She was more like "Wyatt" in that she liked to be in the spotlight, as evident in her response to applause while filming an episode.
One performance I really was not impressed with for a character from the original television series was Steve Carell as "Uncle Arthur". This performance, more than others, was an impersonation of the original actor. Carell copied Paul Lynde (who played the character in the TV series) almost to the letter. He did a poor attempt at copying Lynde's facial mannerisms, but did a pretty good impersonation of Lynde. One that really stood out was
When it comes to jokes, many are in homage to the original television series (some are better hidden than others that fans of the series should be able to pick up). For the most part, the laughs were stuck at the beginning of the movie and died out near the middle. I didn't laugh during the final half of the film. One problem was Ferrell when he tries to be over-the-top. I feel as if he tries to hard when he has to be over-the-top, and fails to bring in the laughs. Carell also failed to bring in the laughs to me, only because I felt he was trying to do a Paul Lynde impersonation. Like I said earlier, many of the jokes will only make sense if you have seen some episodes of the television series.
I would say that if you happen upon it when it airs on HBO or another movie network, I would say check it out if nothing else is on. I just can't say it would be a good rental.
Kidman and Ferrell are a pretty good on-screen duo. Kidman, who appears to be a little bit an airhead, does a pretty good job as the straight woman to the comedic Ferrell. Kidman was real good when she allowed her character to be her witchy self as that is the true nature of the character's personality. Even though I do not like Ferrell when he tries to be over-the-top to get some laughs, he was pretty good as the ego-maniac "Wyatt".
Like in other movies I have seen as of late, supporting characters were not developed well in my opinion. The ones who came from the television series aren't developed at all because they should be known by the audience already.
I just wish they would of stuck to the old feel of the movie, instead of making it a movie about the show, which happens to have a witch in it...
I have this movie and I love it. Of course it doesn't compare to the original, but for a remake, it actually isn't that bad!
I vaguely remember seeing this. It was an interesting way to do an update of the original series, at least, and Will always wins me over.
OMG! Now I have never seen the show, but I saw this and I thought it was the cutest! Nicole Kidman was so cute and Will Ferell and her were even cuter together!
Funny..But, like the criticus said,Nicole and Will farrel is not a perfect couple, because i don't really like Will. This is the only thing that's annoyed me in this movie.
Bewitched was a terrible movie, I would never watch it again, it was so incredibly boring that I wanted to break the disk in half. Bewitched was definitely Will Ferrell's worst performance and wasn't very funny at all.
Brilliant film, tops the old tv series and love the fact that they fall in love. just a big mistake to piss off a witch ^^
A fluffy romantic comedy with a very sweet performance from Nicole Kidman playing a witch who gets the leading role in a revamped version of the classic TV show of the title. Will Ferrell is his usual self, relying on shouting to get some cheap laughs. The comedy elements don't really work and Michael Caine and Shirley Maclaine are criminally wasted in their roles. Ok for a bit of light entertainment.
one of the many feel good movies!
part from the fact i am a massive will ferrel fan, i did not think this film was amazing, it was a funny film lots of laughs, and it left you with a a glow as it was so lovey dovey. i thought the acting was well done and nicole kidman as always is gorguse!
it was better than i thought i would be after everything that i had read about it. there were some good parts that made it good, but it still had something that was missing
So cute. Loved Will Ferrell in this one :)
I loved this show as a girl and found this to be light, fun and fairly true to the original. :)
Interesting watch. Will Ferrell and Nicole Kidman looks cute together in this movie. Definitey something to look out for. Howeer the TV series is way better with the original cast.
Charming movie. Caine & MacLaine steal almost every scene they're in, of course. Kidman is trying her darnedest to be warm, sweet and innocently sympathetic - and mostly pulling it off - in spite of her usual ice-queen aura. Might have given it five stars if I could even remotely stand that Will Ferrell, gleurghhh...
Will Ferrell has a nice freak-out scene in the movie, but I don't like Nicole Kidman in it, it's just below her.
What is a witch ? A witch is a person who manipulates everything. A control freak in other words. She?ll throw a spell on things and people who don?t fit in her own plan. In this movie, Isabel has the same problem. She was raised as a witch and always had what she wanted, when she wanted, just by wiggling her ... ear. But she clearly can tell this situation isn?t normal. Being a hopeless wreck is fun when it?s not even your fault ! You can?t make one person love you, it is possible but if you do it?s a cheap love coming from a cheap person (for example physical love, love for your money ? common spells). This movie has the same theme as Bruce Almighty.

I think this movie could have benefited from more rewrites. Or maybe less rewrites. Or maybe it could have been prevented from being written in the first place.
I didn't dig the script much, but the movie was ok enough. They just coulda done better with the characters they had.
originally had this at 3 and a half and I'm hoping that was during my Will Farell phase. A solid three

I Love this movie, it's so funny and Awsome, and i watch the series but they don't show it any more T_T
I absolutely do not like Will Ferrell. Most movies he is in is ruined by him. If I may be frank. But he has his funny moments. Nichole Kidman was gorgous in this!! She was perfect for the part.
