It is one of the greatest shows on television, right up there with "Lost" and "Arrested Development". It owns the flashy beast known as Star "my plot development sucks" Wars.

A great miniseries to start off a great TV series. I love the plot and interesting character developments. I'd recommend this even to those who don't like sci-fi.

i am such a huge fan of this show! while i am one of those geeks who did like the original series (except for the crap that was "galactica 1980"), this is a rarity, in which a remake outsurpasses the original in terms of pure quality

It's an excellent tv series! The best sci-fi currently on air. My second favorite tv series only under Star Trek: TNG / VOY / ENT

Battlestar Galactica is, hands-down, one of the best shows on tv. I've been keeping up with the show since Season 2 and recently I started watching Season 1. Intense, I think is the best word to describe it. If you're a fan of phenomenal tv you'll enjoy BSG.

This is how you kick off a TV series. An incredibly sucessful reboot, well deserving of the praise it gets.

This mini-series brought sci-fi back to life, and the series that followed will arguably go down as one of the best science fiction shows ever. You're missing out.

OMG! This miniseries rules! I was skeptical since I loved the original Battlestar Galactica but this mini-series totally changed my mind. I am now a huge fan of the tv series. A must watch for scifi lovers.

Science fiction has long been stereotyped as a hardware-obsessed, techno-jargon laden refuge for computer nerds and outcasts. Especially on television, which lacks the geek chic afforded by big-screen Hollywood budgets, the genre's reputation for hokey dialog and cardboard/wire effects have saturated it with a distinct odor of disrespectability. It is somewhat ironic, then, to see the Sci-Fi Channel, a network which often seems devoted to the pulpy and lowbrow, serve up Battlestar Galactica, a show about spaceships and killer robots that is also arguably the most potent, dramatically vibrant series on television. Its deep, complex, funny, and moving with an unflinching examination of how the military, government, family, and religion interact in the fragile ecosystem of society, its as morally and intellectually serious as it is thrilling.
The fleet is populated with quirky, spirited, and deeply flawed individuals, a floating clutter of neurosis and psychic baggage. But that angst-ridden clutter is all that remains of the human race, and their unity, despite any conflicts they have, is integral to their survival.
Battlestar Galactica burns with a combustive mixture of political turmoil and human drama that is as achingly real and relevant as anything I've ever seen.

The world's BEST sci-fi is surprisingly not very sci-fi at all!

    From the opening:

The Cylons were created by Man.

They were the product of a desire to make life easier on the planet Kobol.

At first, they were simple robots. Toys. Conversation pieces at parties for the rich and trendy.

The Cylons became more advanced. Began to work the mines. Do the hard and dangerous work Man no longer wished to do.

And when the people of the Twelve Colonies of Kobol decided to war against each other, the Cylons began to do their fighting and killing for them too.

The Cylons were the greatest soldiers the planet had ever seen. Smart. Fast. Deadly. They made decisions without waiting for orders.

And then the day came when the Cylons decided to kill their masters.

The Twelve Colonies rallied together for the first time in centuries. Betrayed by their own technology, they fought the Cylons with weapons that didn't rely on computers.

After a long and bloody struggle, the war finally ended. An armistice was declared. The Cylons left Kobol for another world to call their own.

A remote space station was built where Cylon and Human could meet and maintain diplomatic relations. Every month, the Colonials send an officer.

The Cylons send no one. No one has seen or heard from the Cylons in over forty years.

    Until now...

What's the BFD? Firefly/Serenity was sooo much better as far as character development, story and special effects. How does this franchise last?

Simply one of the greatest Sci-Fi shows ever. Groundbreaking visuals and camera moves, perfectly cast and great stories. So well done that it puts all Sci-Fi shows in the past 20 years to shame (except Firefly.) I hate to even label it as a Sci-Fi because it's so much more. Proves that TV can be just as or even more compelling than feature films. Katee Sackoff will be a major star. The best performances and roles of their careers for both Edward James Olmos AND Mary McDonnell. And Tricia Helfer? Smoking hot.

With what is obviously a biased opinion, Battlestar Galactica has been perhaps the best show on television the past three and a half years (Lost is the other contender in my books). It does an excellent job in combining themes from contemporary society and blending them with a sci-fi setting. Looking forwards to the show's fourth (and likely final) season.

It begins........ The 12 colonies have been destroyed by the cylons who are now pursuing the last 50,000 of the human race across the universe, searching for the 13th colony of Earth.
Strictly karaXlee for now, but by the end of the series, Kara slept with Baltar, who got pissed off when she was saying lee's name when they did it. Messed up as Kara was going to marry his bro Zack. Moral? When ure in luv with some1's bro, and have been always, dont agree to marry the bro. You shud have made ure move Kara, hes married to Dee now, and u r married to Anders.
    SHARON'S A CYLON!
    LEOBEN'S A CYLON!
Mary McDonnell gets called a skewl teacher. yeah, well, shes the president now, its not her fault she has cancer.
    EJO gets pissed.
But most importantly: THEY GET OUT THE VIPER 7 MARKS 2s. Bring it on cylon mother-frakkers.

I'm a fan of the new BSG. It's not the typical space opera. The show makes the events of the destruction of a homeworld and survival in space very realistic, and how humans would act in that situation. Can't help but love it.

Never, ever, never ever never ever has a miniseries been this damn engaging.
It introduces several three dimensional characters each with their own weaknesses and strengths. It shows us enough prior to the destruction so we know what they're fighting for. And it creates one of the most bad ass forces in any film... ever (Cylons. If you didn't get it).
Although it is a miniseries made for TV, it plays like a movie and the special effects are even better than most modern stuff.
To think that it currently has 3 seasons that follow and they're just as good, make me happy.
