Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007,  PG-13)
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix 5.0 Stars
You cannot fault the Harry Potter movies on their entertainment value. This fifth movie is a brilliant adaptation. Although at times it feels a bit rushed plot wise it is visually stunning and there are faultless performances from all no matter how big or small their part is. The main trio have matured brilliantly and of the new charcters Imelda Staunton, Evanna Lynch and Helena Bonham Carter shine.

Bridge to Terabithia (2007,  PG)
Bridge to Terabithia 5.0 Stars
Mixing fantasy and drama this movie could probably be the best family movie since ET with a big tearjerker of an ending. The performances from the two young leads are very likeable and mature. This film is not afraid to explore more adult material instead of being sickly sweet.

The Simpsons Movie (2007,  PG-13)
The Simpsons Movie 4.0 Stars
Pretty much an extended TV episode, The Simpsons Movie is full of laughs from beginning to end. All the charcacters are here and although the plot is a bit slim and silly the jokes come thick and fast that you don't really care. If you love watching The Simpsons on TV then you'll love this big screen adventure.

Hot Fuzz (2007,  R)
Hot Fuzz 5.0 Stars
Another fantastic movie from the team behind Shaun of the Dead. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost make the perfect double act once again. The jokes come thick and fast and the plot is also a lot of fun with some unexpected twists. The cast list is also great with the likes of Jim Broadbent, Bill Nighy and Timothy Dalton putting in great performances. Pure fun all the way.

Notes on a Scandal (2006,  R)
Notes on a Scandal 4.0 Stars
Judi Dench's sinister turn in this movie has ganered her another Oscar nomination and rightly so. Her performance is one of great evil though you strangely feel sympathy for her lonely character. Cate Blanchett is also brilliant here and also greatly deserves her Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination. A thrilling and dramatic movie that will keep you hooked from start to finish.

Atonement (2007,  R)
Atonement 4.0 Stars
A beautifully shot and well acted movie based on the best selling novel. Keira Knightley and James McAvoy show once again that they are two of the finest young actors around at the moment. The opening scenes are luxurious and the war scenes seen later in the film are amazing. A compelling story and emotional performances from all make this one to watch.

Ratatouille (2007,  G)
Ratatouille 4.0 Stars
Another brilliant Disney/Pixar film with all the charm that you come to expect from these kind of movies. Very original and funny this doesn't have as many adult jokes as you'd find in other Pixar movies like Finding Nemo, but this is only a minor flaw in what is an outstanding family film.

Control (2007,  R)
Control 4.0 Stars
Charting the life of Ian Curtis, lead singer of the band Joy Division, this biopic is shot completely in black and white giving it a very serious documentary feel. In the leading role newcomer Sam Riley makes Curtis an engaging character while Samantha Morton as his wife is superb. The soundtrack is also brilliant adding emotion particularly to the very tragic finale.

The Bourne Ultimatum (2007,  PG-13)
The Bourne Ultimatum 4.0 Stars
Another fast paced action packed Bourne movie. If you love the other two films then this will be up your street. It's a satisfying enough ending to the series with all ends tied up nicely. A little exhausting though.... Easily the most gripping and exciting of the trilogy.

Becoming Jane (2007,  PG)
Becoming Jane 4.0 Stars
A beautifully shot period drama telling the story of Jane Austen's life. If you love the movies based on Austen's books you're sure to enjoy this movie. Anne Hathaway boasts a terrific British accent to play the heroine and James McAvoy is also good as the only love of her life. The supporting cast (Julie Walters and Maggie Smith among them) are also good but do little.
