Movies I've Seen-2003

I didn't mind this,way too much angst and father issue shit though,not enough "Hulk smash!"The CGI Hulk looks pretty good,not King Kong or Gollum good but still pretty good.

Amazing,like Tarantino's head exploded and this was the result.Could have been a mess but Tarantino pulled it off big time.This,along with Vol 2 is Tarantino's masterpiece.It's stylish,audacious and though it cribs from many genres and films,once again Tarantino makes it his own.The House of Blue Leaves battle is astoundingly kickass.This also has to be the most ultraviolent major american film since Total Recall.I honestly can't say enough good things about this.Great characters(my favorite in this has gotta be O-Ren Ishii and her whole backstory,gotta love the anime sequence) and setpieces.The only bad thing is I don't know if Tarantino has anywhere to go but down after this.I don't think he'll ever match or top this.One of my top ten films of all time.

The concluding chapter of the epic saga finally comes to a close,but it's a hell of a long time in coming.Some of the best story elements of the trilogy are spread pretty thin here as the film is sadistically,punishingly overlong(made even worse in the extended version which runs 251 minutes,ugh)and having eighteen endings doesn't help either.The first 45 minutes might be the toughest to wade through as they're very talky,full of the same ponderous doom and gloom yapping we've been getting for three films now.Still,it's worth watching if you have the patience of a saint as there is some terrific stuff here,especially what might be the best giant spider in movie history.As before the action and effects are top notch but this needed a serious editing job.So the final tally is the first and third films aren't wholly satisfying,only the second film really clicks.
