Mean Creek (2004, R)
A compelling film with terrific acting from all involved. The main chunk of the film is full of tension and angst though this is soon lost with an unsatisfying finale that fails to wrap up all the loose ends. This is a shame as if the final act followed the same pattern of the rest of the film then this would've been fantastic. Still, this deserves all the accolades and award nominations that have been thrust upon it. |

An ok documentary charting the popularity of The Lord of the Rings books and films and the impact they have on the many fans, narrated by Dominic Monaghan. There are some interesting moments here and at times it can be informative. However, there are some pointless moments including a song about merchandise. Overall, a good watch if you're a fan of Tolkien's world. |
