A real clunker. Seemingly more interested in being a travelogue than an adventure film, the movie is severely lacking in excitement, suspense, and enduring humor, and most of the characters grate on the nerves. In every new locale, the movie drags its feet in order to give us a fifteen-minute look at a sun-drenched landscape or an exotic circus routine, and this drudgery repeats itself for three hours that feel more like three days (which is about how long it took me to get through this plodding fiasco). The TV miniseries starring Pierce Brosnan is far superior.

I can't believe Robert Redford snatched the Academy Award for Best Director away from Martin Scorsese and "Raging Bull" with this film.

"E.T." is one of those movies that's great when you're a kid, but seems to lose a lot of its appeal once you turn thirteen.

About as historically accurate as Disney's "Pocahontas", but a great movie nonetheless.
